Theoldguy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Congrats to Ryan Darner as with his base hit in the first inning of yesterday game against Dixie, he earned his 50th hit of the season. Now for you non baseball fans, I need to tell you earning 50 hits in a HS baseball season isn't something that is done all the time but yet this is the second season in a row that RD has done this. Last year Darner had 53 hits and 43 RBI's. Think about this if you would, RD not only has 50 hits this season so far but the young man has 58 RBI's! When you talk about HS baseball players who can hit and knock in runs, Ryan Darner has to be included in your talk. Congrats RD... :thumb:
baseball4life Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Sounds like the kid needs to be in the running for MR. Baseball in Kentucky. That is being a very productive baseball player.

hja1224 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I've only seen him play a couple of times, but with those numbers how can he not be getting offers. Plus, he plays on a team, high school and summer, that gets a ton of exposure and plays with one of the top players in the State. Is he waiting on a particular level of college? I don't know the answer but I see kids going to different colleges that have no where near the numbers he puts up. :idunno:

His stats are up there and his ability to come through in the clutch is what sets him apart. As far as being a topic of conversation, he is! My son plays on another NK team and everywhere we have gone in the past month I personally have brought his name up and had copies of the Newpapers stats to leave behind. All college coaches ask about who else is a out there? In his case I'm quite confident he will land somewhere. Finding that fit is always a challenge for the coaches and the student/athlete. I can appreciate the effort TOG has put into promoting Ryan and it's well deserved. Sometimes you have to wonder how coaches evaluate kids? I have not been able to see him on the feild in game situations, but his bat alone should be getting him some looks. I still feel he is going to be at the next level. I wish him the best as I'm sure its frustrating at times.
