Track the Cubs (Week 6)

Derrek Lee is going to get an MRI today for the bulging disc in his neck. They might as well put in one of those portable MRI machines in the Cubs' clubhouse!:irked:

Honestly, out of all our starters, he's the one we can most afford to lose. We have to get Rami back. Any word on just how long he'll be out? Heard anything on Big Z. IF we could ever just get healthy and stay healthy we could own the division. 2.5 games back after all the freaking injuries is impressive IMO

Hey 3Time, you ever been to an Iowa Cubs game? I'm going to see them play in Memphis at the end of the month, figured you'd seen the play the Sounds. Are Triple A games fun?

I went to some Sounds games in the 90s ... it's a nice experience and much cheaper than a major league game.

I haven't been to the ballpark in Memphis that was built about 7-8 years ago, but I hear it's fantastic.

Yes, I've seen them play the Sounds a couple of times. The best time was when Woody was rehabbing and we got to see him pretty close up in Nashville. The stadium was full of Cubs fans and it was a load of fun. I enjoy the minor league games because they are so much more goofy with all the fan stuff. As far as excitement goes, they don't compare to a MLB game, IMO.

Saw Micah Hoffpauer crush a homer two years ago. Angel Guzman was there on a rehab assignment and got rocked. I'd rather take the family to a minor league game than a major league game any day of the week.

I'm going to see the Iowa Cubs in Memphis on May 31st. I got 4 tickets on the front row right behind the Cubs dugout for 16 bucks a piece. That's much more affordable! I think it'll be fun. They say that the Redbirds stadium is basically a MLB stadium. If the Cubs go into the tank this year, I see them tearing the team down next year.

This year's club is beginning to remind me of the 1985 Cubs team that got old in a hurry and couldn't overcome a bushel of injuries.
Unfortunately, that stuff goes hand-in-hand. And it was entirely predictable.

I don't think this Cubs team will fall apart. They're still good enough to win the division, but the 97 wins that last year's team got is out of reach.

^ I agree. I think they are in the race for good. Bullpen is shaky at best, which isn't a good combination with Zambrano hurt, Harden gonna be hurt at some point, and Dempster not able to find home plate with both hands, a map, and a flashlight.

How many years in a row are our Cubbies going to be plagued by injury? As in the last three or four years when we get bit by the injury bug we are almost swallowed whole. If we can get healthy, I would take the injuries at this point in the season compared to any other. As Rocket alluded to, 2.5 back is an excellent mark considering everything that has went horribly wrong.

Did anyone see Milton Bradley's homer last night?!? Upper deck to straight away center:scared:

He's batting over .300 over the last 6 games. Hopefully he's coming around. Don't look now but they're only 1.5 back and Big Z is nearing his return. Just need to get Rami back and keep the rest healthy.

439 feet. Not too shabby. Brandon Phillips hit one 452 last night, though. :p
