One thing that can be done is get a little bigger lead and get picked off. I do not know the whole situation, but I have seen this happen. It is a hard thing to do. The kids that do not start want to play hard and do good in the chance that they get. JMO

Tried that against Eminence and they turned and threw the ball out of play.

Well, that still doesn't change the fact that they really aren't state contenders.

 

However, I did hear that Bell County couldn't do anything at all. Probably the worst case scenario for every facet, not throwing strikes, not catching the ball, not making the throws, and not hitting the ball.

 

Can't win by doing that, expecially if it's against a good team. I don't know much about Anderson Co. but they have to be solid ball club in order to beat a team like Bell this bad.

Anderson County has won 3 regional titles since 2000. They won the region in 08 and were beaten by PRP (the eventual state champs). This year they are in the top 25 and have beaten several teams that are ranked so they are definately a good team.

 

Don't say things about a team that you know nothing about and obviously you don't know much about Anderson County.

 

 

I guess what I was saying is that you don't see the powerhouse programs running scores up on lesser competition like that, so why does Anderson County? They are not that good, believe me! Do you see any of PRP scores 35-2 or 59-1 or whatever? Nope! Nor LCA, Lex Cath, Tates Creek, Cov Cath, Trinity, St. X, Apollo, Eastern, Harrison County, etc. The good programs don't do that to weaker competition.

LCA has beaten teams 28-0 and 23-3, Trinity has beaten teams 16-0, Apollo has beaten teams 17-0, and all of them have mercy ruled teams consistently throughout the season. So yes they do beat up on weaker competition. So hiltopper answer me this, what do you do when your oponent drops pop ups, throws the ball out of play when you purposely get too big of a lead, and throws the ball 15 feet over the batters head and yet the batter swings but it isn't called a strike because the umpire was watching the ball go so high he didn't see the swing?

Wow, you're so defensive!!! There's a big difference in 16 or 17-0 and 35 to something. A lot of teams don't score 35 RUNS in a week, let alone 5 innings. When did AC start holding runners and quit stealing??? Reckon almost everyone pitched for Bell. Also must agree with getting a bigger lead or getting in rundowns. From what I've heard they were stuck in the 4th inning forever, if so, then why not just give up a few outs, have a 15 or 18 run lead, whatever, get 3 outs and go to the house??? I understand getting your kids in and everything, but there comes a point where you just do the right thing...

I agree 100% with Hilltopper. After beating Eminence 59-1 last year it looks like Anderson would have learned their lesson. Sounds to me like the coach is classless. He will start finding that many of the better teams won't schedule him and those who do may find it quite inviting to pitch high and tight. It is impossible for a team to score that many runs if they are doing everything in their power not to run the score up.
