There still a top team despite that. Look at who they have beat this year and its easy to tell they are a top team and deserve to be ranked as high as they are.

Cov Cath is good and deserves to be talked about when discussing the top teams in the state but I don't think top 5. Maybe top 10 but I don't know about top 5. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows.

I haven't seen the other teams in the state so I can't make a comparison but you may be right. CCH with Isler is tough to beat.

There are an number of teams that who is on the mound can make a considerable difference. Ballard, with Mccombs on the mound, comes to mind. Trinity drops off considerably after the first two starters. With Harper and Gibson, I think PRP is much better (yet PRP beat Male yesterday with someone else on the hill). I also think that this year the state tournament is open. A number of teams on a given day can beat each other. Covington Catholic’s wins in the LIT were substantial, yet how would they do playing 6 games in a week, 5 against top 15 teams in the state? Besides the LIT wins, I do not see any wins against top 25 teams. Are they any? Has Covington Catholic considered playing the top Ohio (and even Indiana) teams?

CovCath has been rained out of the Cin McNicholas (14-7) game twice, once leading by a score of 3-0 with two on and one out in the bottom of the second and Hamilton Badin (19-1) just begged out of our game on Tuesday May 5th, due to conflicts with their GCCL games. GCCL web pages

 

CovCath just defeated #10 Franklin County by a score of 5-4 beating their ace Thompson Friday night at Boyd, so CovCath has now played #1 Apollo and beat them (9-6) played #5 Lex Christian and beat them (7-3) and lost to #9 Lou St. X at their field by a score of (8-6). CovCath still has a game to play with LexCath @ LexCath on Tuesday May 12. Oh, and CovCath has defeated the All "A" State Runnerup Cov Holy Cross twice by scores of (8-4) and (10-1).

I have tried to be objective in my comments as well as show respect with Covington Catholic’s recent wins, yet I am not so sure your post has the same objectiveness. Words like “begging” to describe Hamilton Badin’s scheduling conflict (?) make me wonder. My point is that when I look at Covington Catholic’s record coming into the LIT (which does not include partial games) is that their record was 16-1 against all Northern Kentucky teams, none of which were ranked in the top 25 last week.

So what is your point? They are 3-1 against top 10 teams this year and beat the teams that they are supposed to beat. . . :idunno:

I used a word, (maybe it wasn't PC) but Badin did just that. I am guessing that you are not from up north as getting a game dropped by a Cincinnati School (in baseball) happens a lot to us who schedule them. Indeed CovCath is thinking of not scheduling McNick as it has happen far too often with them.

 

Tuesday HHS has a game with St. X and if they St. X request not to play due to conflicts with their schedule, HHS will play CovCath instead, we are used to it, but it doesn't mean we have to like it.

 

You would be surprised to this day how wide the Ohio River is from North to South, but how narrow it is from South to North.

 

BTW who would you like them to play, after playing four of the top nine and when they play LexCath in another week or so, they will have played five of the top nine teams in the state?
