Actually, they had no chance at getting the #1 seed because of losing to Beechwood. That had nothing to do with not pitching Roenker though.

I have to say, I did not understand Roenker pitching vs. Dixie instead of yesterday vs. CCH for the district game, unless they thought it would rain out. Obviously Roenker needs to be rested for Saturday..but wouldn't Tuesday to Saturday be enough?

 

Regardless, I don't think Roenker would have made that huge a difference. Stewart [i think that was the pitcher for HC] did a nice job, CCH's bats are just too big and with Isler only giving up one run, they'd have had to hold CovCath to one or zero, which seems unlikely. Possible..but unlikely.

I think the All A is a really big deal to this HC team. They've never played in the state All A tournament, so right now they are playing for that. Chances are they are facing Isler or Smith in the first round of the District's anyways.

I will say this... I love the way Isler pitches with a lead. They will not lose a game with him out there if they score first. He goes right after the hitters, throws strikes and doesn't worry about trying to strike every guy out and be perfect. That's why he can pitch complete games, because he keeps his pitch count so low.

He is just trying to keep him on an even schedule. Also, two high pressure games back to back is a little different than a game against Dixie that means nothing. He obviously didn't throw his best game against Dixie Monday.

Tuesday and Saturday would be 3 full days rest. Isn't that his normal rest?

That was my guess, but I really wasn't sure. I don't know that I like my chances if I'm HC of beating Isler, Beechwood beating Isler, and winning a blind draw.
