This coming Sunday, April 26th at 2pm there will be a juniors-only All-Star Game played at Berea College, which is being billed as the 2009 Gene Lowe All-Star Game.

 

Representatives from the 10th and 11th Regions will take on those from the 12th and 13th if I understand the format correctly. Each region is sending six outstanding juniors to compete. I know that the 10th Region is sending Phil Barner from Mason County, Stephen Mason from St. Patrick, Jacob Rieger from Brossart, and Kyle Campbell from Nicholas County, and Brady Jolly from Campbell County, plus a sixth player that I am not aware of.

 

Does anyone have information on the players from the other regions or additional info/input on the game itself???

I think the other from the 10th is Dylan Hamilton from Bracken.

Mustang, if you go to the game, I am sure you will be impressed with Bullens from Rockcastle. I only got to see him play once in person but a few times online and he hustles his rearend off and will do his all-star team proud as he already has Rockcastle County for being selected to be on the roster.

Anyone have the box score? I know the 11/13th won by about 20 over the 10/12th. The score was 126-106 I think. I just wondered about individual scoring.

Mercer County's Jamel Taylor Took Down the Slam-Dunk Contest

I miss the summer time Brossart three point and dunk contest they used to have.

Willie Schlarman started it in 1998 and we were spoiled in the early days when guys like Anthony Matrecia and Schuler from St. Henry (serious hops) competed in the slam-dunk contest.

Like everything else, it became more costly and tougher to draw the top athletes on an early June evening.

Due to team camp, baseball, etc. conflicts the slam-dunk competition seemed to fall off, AND the NKCA Senior All-Star game incorporated a slam-dunk competition in conjunction with their event.

I remember some "little guy" from Holmes coming out to the Slam Dunk contest when he was a freshman or sophmore; and lighting the place up!! Name was Arrez something??

Jamel Taylor is a 6'5" 195 pounds center for Mercer County. He is a great player that is devloping quickly but still needs work. If Taylor gets around 215-220 he will be unstoppable.
