April 26, 200917 yr Oh, the Marriott is very nice! If FF likes to fish, the 1/2 day fishing expeditions are really cool around there. My husband and son have gone several times and my son caught a shark and a marlin. We've got some great pictures. You ever take the kids to the Alligator Farm out US 41 towards Miami? I have pictures of my kids there holding baby alligators and "walking" bigger ones by holding their tails like walking a dog.
April 26, 200917 yr I want to know how you folks have a 2nd house there? I'm fairly young but would like to be in those shoes when I retire. What's the secret? I've got a fraternity brother from Mt Sterling that is a golf pro on Marcco Island I think. Brian Berryman is his name.
April 26, 200917 yr How is the realty market there right now since there are so many homeowners. That is my dream destination to live. I first went about 15 years ago and try to go as much as possible. Must try Snook InnNacho Mama's have nice drinks and a tent to enjoy the mexican fiesta, also a nice place. Great sea shells, don't go looking for excitement, there isn't a whole lot in Marco Island, rather go to Naples. I also second the gator viewing that Mr. Network mentioned or at least a stroll down Gator Alley. Lots of sealife in the water so be careful with smaller children. Expensive, take extra $$$$$$$. Is anyone selling their home there? LOL Actually I'm serious.

Maybe the market has gotten a lot better since the last time I was there, but I couldn't find a house less than $300,000 that had some sort of water access. It is a tight knit community, also.
April 26, 200917 yr Buy it in the 1950's and get it passed on to you. The land is worth a heck of a lot more than the house.
April 26, 200917 yr How is the realty market there right now since there are so many homeowners. Market was very high a few years ago. Way down from where it used to be. Everything down there is still pretty expensive. It's a great area. Obviously this is not groundbreaking news.

Obviously this is not groundbreaking news. Actually, prices are in half IF you can find a buyer. The real estate market hit a high about 4 years ago when the Euro was very strong compared to the dollar and Europeans were paying very high prices for Marco Island property.
