westsider Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Part of a big tournament in Memphis ... I think the game was played at the former USA Baseball facility in Millington.

I'm not from Louisville, but I love when St.X plays these types of games in any sport...I took a tour through their school a couple years ago and was extremly impressed!!!
Homerun Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Arlington was ranked number 8 in Tennessee’s Commercial Appeal’s “Dandy Dozen,” which ranks the top 12 teams in Tennessee. Arlington made it to the tournament final while losing to Yucaipa (California). The word was that Yucaipa had 3 Division I signees, one of whom was supposedly a first round prospect in the MLB draft. Louisville Trinity lost in the second round to Yucaipa. St. X was ahead going into the last inning and had Arlington on the ropes. Five or six base running errors were costly for the Tigers. The Tigers are young and learning a lot and playing quality out-of-state teams can help in this process.

Homerun Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Thanks for the clarification. I had previously gone to the Tennessee high school website I thought I saw a similar ranking system--a number like 12, versus top 20 or 25.
Park1221 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/apr/05/california-team-wins-classic/ Above is an article from the local paper about Arlington's loss to Yucaipa in the championship. Arlington played without their seniors who attended prom. They started a freshman pitcher who took the loss. X ran into this same situation with Dyersburg in their last game. I'm sure the California team was a little disappointed to fly to Memphis, make the championship and learn they were facing essentially Arlington's second team.
