"I can screw you over" tells me everything about this guy. He needs his rear end thumped.

I was really appalled at the policeman's actions. I hope he is fired and sued.

I can't imagine how

a)he keeps his job

b)how he would be sued.

Why? We live in America. Anyone can sue anyone for any reason. (And frequently do). :isurrender:

And, in this particular situation, they just might have a case, as I do not think it would be difficult for the player's family to claim pain and suffering as a result of the police officer's actions, which the department itself has acknowledged to be inappropriate.

It's a wonder he didn't try and arrest the wife when she ignored him and went inside the hospital. Thank God she made it to her mother's side in time.

Lets not cast a huge net over every young police officer.

Not every...Just the few I have ran into, I'm sorry, I should have added that In My post..

I saw this report on ESPN and it just made me sick. Power-hungry cops are VERY dangerous.

There are bad apples in every profession - bad accountants, bad teachers, bad bankers, bad garbagemen, bad pilots, bad waitresses, etc.... and also bad cops. But the vast, overwhelming majority of police officers are good, honorable, hard-working individuals who perform a much-need and dangerous job for not exceptional pay. Unfortunately, you tend to only hear about the bad ones or the good ones who make occasional honest mistakes. Certainly the potential for harm and damage from the mistake/misconduct of a police officer is greater than most other professions, but the cop in this story does not typify the everyday police officer or even "young" police officer.

I call most of these guys Barney Fifes. They abuse their power because they have a badge. Before I go on and offend some people. I'm saying that not every Cop does this. I know some very good Cops who are good people. The best line I used to hear from some Cops is that "I'm a cop I'm not going to get a dui" I drove bye the Drawbridge Inn last Saturday Night. The Covington PD was having their ball. I wonder how many Cops got pulled over leaving there.:rolleyes:
