Dunbar 18 Conner 8

#14 Dunbar gets the 5-inning victory.

Good opening win for the Bulldogs under new head coach Larry Poynter. Look for continued success in this program under Coach Poynter's leadership.

I completely missed this thread today and am surprised at how badly Conner was beaten. Any details at all, especially Conner's pitching? I'd be curious to know if Shuttlesworth threw.

From what I have heard Shuttleworth is injured. He pulled or tore his hamstring. So I don't think he pitched for Conner against Dunbar. I would say that Samad threw for the Cougars since he is their number two but I could be wrong.

Wow. If he tore his hamstring, I would assume he is done for the season. In fact, even a pulled hamstring would keep him out for an extended period. Tough injury for a pitcher to work through. I would think this could have a serious impact on Conner, as he was no doubt going to be their workhorse.

Last I have heard Shuttleworth will be back for the Cougars in 4-5 weeks even though I think that is way to early for an injury like that. Hope he is doing OK.

This game was going into the bottom of the 4th, Dunbar leading 9 to 8. They proceeded to put up a nine spot, and with a man on 1st and 3rd and two outs picked off the runner at first in the top of the fifth!:idunno: Conner had 5 costly errors in this game, but both teams pitching were unimpressive! Losing Shuttleworth is HUGE, not only is he Conner's ace, he is also their leadoff batter and a fine outfielder! Russell and West must now be relied upon for some quality innings!
