That may have been the case last year. However, I don' think so this year. Nonetheless, it wouldn't apply to the district tournament.

 

I believe it would be best to have out of region officials call the tournaments. For instance, 15th Region officials could call the 16th Region and vice versa.

 

I do want to be perfectly clear in stating that Kouns is a fine and experienced oifficial. No one should doubt his integrety. I certainly do not. However, I still believe he calls a disproportionate number of Ashland games- particularly at home. I again refer to my post #20 for explanation.

The Tomcats have not played well at home this year. Im not sure what their record at home is but I do know they have more wins on the road.

 

You are correct on this point. I wonder if it has to do with the lackluster student section? The only times they have been out in force are for the Russell games and sort of for the Boyd County games. A team has to feel dejected without a consistent fan base from their peers.

Well actually, Sidelinedoc, cheering sections at games are my favorite part. Support for one's team is what it's all about. After all if you can't play, you can always cheer!:laugh:

I believe the little guy on top of all those trophies is modeled after Kouns. You can tell if you look at how neat the hair is on all those trophies.

Which helps to reinforce my observation about Kouns this year, he is pretty much taking the whole game off and letting the two refs working with him make most of the calls. The last couple of games I saw this was the case. I bet he blew his whistle 5 times the last time out, if that many.

Kouns was my high school baseball coach at Greenup and I am very fond of my baseball days and his coaching. But I have to share this TRUE story that will tie into your post........

 

Kouns was readying to take the field with his crew about 7 years ago for a football scrimmage game at Greenup. All of a sudden he groaned and stated that he had left his flags in his car. I told him, "Don't worry Coach, you haven't thrown it years!" This was met with loud bursts of laughter, even from some of his crew. He told me to go do something.....I can't remember what it was now.:sssh:
