I disagree with the bolded. The culture of my school has changed drastically in only one year, due to a new principal and assistant principal that hold students to high standards and don't "excuse" those that come from bad homes. We don't cater to the troublemakers anymore...and many of those that fit that category last year no longer are in that column this year. We are down to about 0.02% of the school populations being "troublemakers" which we define as those that ordinary disciplinary procedures do not work with.

 

Your school and these administrators should be commended.

 

The schools I'm closely associated with do not have these policies..... and it's disheartening.

You have made a broad statement about how a generation has been "ruined".

 

First of all, I believe that there are more good kids in schools these days than there are bad. Secondly, how do you know how all parents treat their kids?

 

As far as the principle goes, it seems he let his temper get the better of him.

As for a generation being "ruined" I think not. My 4 children range from 10 years old to 27 and being around their friends over the years and participating in countless school events, I believe children are still the same as they were when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. Video games and text messaging have replaced a lot of outdoor activities but they are still great kids.
