February 19, 200917 yr Regarding the time available to read the bill. Has the thought occurred to anyone that if given more time to read the bill, more Republicans may have voted for it? No one will ever know, but it is a hypothetical. And more Democrats may have voted against it. The bottom line is that NO bill should ever be forced into action like this, nor should any bill be passed that has not been read.

February 20, 200917 yr Didn't Obama say in his campaign, something to the effect, "Once a Bill reaches my desk, it will take 4-5 days before I sign it. To give the American people, time to review it". Not an exact quote but didn't I recall him saying that?

He said that the American people would have 48 hours to view this bill BEFORE it was voted on, but the members of Congress had less than 15 hours and it was over 1100 pages.
