Let's use this thread to discuss the 14th Region, Teams, Players to watch, Schedules, Sr college commits and the season. Breathitt County Buckhorn Cordia Estill County Hazard Jackson City Jenkins June Buchanan Knott County Central Lee County Leslie County Letcher County Central Owsley County Perry County Central Powell County Riverside Christian Wolfe County Edited February 17, 2009 by STRIKE3
ScarHeel Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Cody Osborne & Jimmy Jo Morgan should be the top players for Leslie. I don't know much about the team but I know Morgan is a pitcher (His brother, Quentin, pitches for Morehead St) and Osborne plays in the infield. Morgan is a Senior and I'm not sure what grade Osborne is in. Hopefully someone more familiar with the Eagles will come in here and be more detailed. Here is Leslie's schedule...
friedtaters Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I look for Estill to be strong and one of the favorites in the region. The Freeman kid is quite a player.
Pat Dad Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Knott has a new coach, Jamie Couch. There will be some new faces on the team this season. Once tryouts are done I'll chime in on the team a little more. But, I do look for KCC to be better than they were last season.

This Isn't the same Jamie Couch that played HS baseball at Leslie County High is it? He was an awesome pitcher for the Eagles about 7 or 8 years ago. I think he also played at ALC and if so, I'm guessing that is where his connections came in.
The Professor Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Letcher County Central will be good this year from what I have been told. Nice team with a lot of young, promising talent and will be a contender, possibly the top contender. Estill County lost some good players from last year, but they still have maybe the region's best player in Freemon. Coach Wood always seem to come up with something. Perry County Central, Hazard, and Leslie County should be in the mix for the region honors as well. Maybe Powell County too, not too sure about them though.

This Couch played at KCC in the early 90's.
Pat Dad Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I need confirmation on Breathitt's status. I was told that Breathitt didn't have enough players to come out and won't have a team. Is this true? Allen Central won the scrimmage game against Knott Central last night, 3-2. Both teams looked a bit rough on hitting, but pitching and defense looked good. Knott will have one more scrimmage that is on Friday around 5:30-6 PM. They will be playing Wolfe County.
smallball123 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I need confirmation on Breathitt's status. I was told that Breathitt didn't have enough players to come out and won't have a team. Is this true? I heard this too, it would be a shame. Breathitt has some good players, I would hate it for them if they didn't get to play.
L_B Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Perry will be a strong team with the best player in the region (Brandon Napier)...But don't over look Estill Co.....Hazard will be a good team with returning last years regional star (Corey Slone), and his big bat.

Breathitt does have a team this year. They had to get the middle school to play. There is 2 8th graders starting and 2 freshman. They are a young team. They will only lose 2 seniors this year. They will be good for a few years to come but after the middle school comes through it will be a long time befor there will me another team.
