You don't think that finding out that you had unprotected sex with someone who has AIDS (assuming he actually does) and doing so because this person, whom you trusted and apparently loved, told you he was AIDS-free, might possibly cause some emotional distress? Whether you have tested negative or not? Now $15 M? I don't know about that amount and I'm not saying she doesn't bear some responsibility herself, but I certainly think I would find it a bit distressing. And if Alomar did knowingly expose her, he's a sick, pathetic excuse for a human being.

 

 

Assuming he actually does is the key point. Also, assuming he actually does when did he find out that he did? If I love someone and I'm in the doctor's office and the doctor says you need to have an HIV test, I'm not risking my health until the test is taken. She chose otherwise. She's dumb.

And the official comment from Alomar was a lame "My health is good." If you're going to make a comment about your health, why not say you are HIV negative? If you're going to wait until court to let the "truth come out", why make any comment at all then?

But he DID mention something about his health. That's the whole point. He could have addressed the issue head-on and instead limped in with the comment he did. I would assume his ex must have some proof, or assume it exists somewhere and is attainable, to file the suit and make such claims. She certainly doesn't have to release such proof (if it exists) at this point in time.

He mentioned that he was healthy and his current girlfriend backed that up.

 

You're doing a lot of assuming here. All I know from the info that has been released so far is that she wants a lot of money for having consensual sex w/ someone that may or may not have had HIV or AIDS at the time of the sex but she also has neither HIV or AIDS. IF it can be proven that he had a test that came back positive and still had unprotected sex w/ her then he should be charged criminally.

There has been legal precedence established to prosecute people infected with HIV who knowing or recklessly engage in acts that could or do transmit the disease. In fact, many states have passed specific legislation covering the criminal transmission of AIDS. While I agree it is very sad if Alomar himself contracted the disease from being raped as a teenager, I find it even more disturbing that he would have intentionally risked the health and life of someone he cared for.
