Elijah Pittman status?

Just heard the same thing. I know he isn't in school today, since he's been in and out of the doctor's office all morning, but I'd assume he'd be at practice after school.

Glad to hear he's alright though.

I don't think you can miss school & still practice. Not positive on this, but I believe there is a requirement that you attend a certain % of consecutive periods if you wish to practice. Unless the reason you're missing practice is due to a school-related function (i.e. a field trip).

I thought this was the case, but I am unable to find any support on the KHSAA website...

Not sure there's any rules against a kid practicing even if he misses school. I don't see why it'd be a problem though, if a kid has been in and out of the doctor's office all day because of an injury. But he's in school right now, as you can see from my previous post, so it shouldn't be a problem with him practicing today.

There is no rule against a kid practicing if he misses school, only on game day must a student attend 60% or more of the day.

Thanks for clearing that up. I always thought that had applied to practices too. So, theoretically, a kid could miss the entire school day but still come after school and practice?

That would be correct.

Interesting. I'm surprised that is the case. You'd think the KHSAA would have a rule to govern & prevent those types of situations. Maybe that's just me? :idunno:

I can see your point. I was told there is no rule because practice is not considered an official school function like a game is.

That post was at 11:00, while he was still at the doctor's office. The other post was over an hour later and he was in school and back from the doctor. I should have phrased it as him not being in school "RIGHT NOW" when I originally posted.

Glad to hear he's ok.

I am happy to hear he is not out.:thumb:

Hopefully E will be ready to go for the District and regional tournaments, his health will be vital if Holmes plans to cut down the nets at District, Region and State.
