GREAT GAME! Both teams played their hearts out. St. Pat came back from 17 down at half. 3 St. Pat players fouled out (Mason, Thompson, Cropper), and 2 for Bracken (Hamilton and Workman)

St. Pat is 4-1 against the Bears with another game to go. Do you really need to play a team 6 times. I can understand 4 (2 regular season, 2 in the tourney), but 5 regular season games???

St. Pat played Bracken 1 at home, 1 away, 1 in the Fleming county tournament, 1 in the Bracken County tournament, 1 in the All-A tournament, and 1 to go in the District tournament.

Looks like the saints need Bracken on the schedule to gets some wins. They have 4 total wins other than Bracken. WOW!!! But of course Bracken has helped a lot of schools get wins this year. I got to see them twice and I saw NO defense whatsoever and a lot of RUN AND GUN!!! Good luck to both teams as they match up AGAIN in districts!

Hope the AD at Bracken only schedules St.Patrick once on the schedule next season or not at all because chances are they will play 2 or 3 times anyway during a season,same tournaments,district tournament,etc. 6 times is ridiculous

The new young coach must be struggling with control in Brooksville. Anyone make it to the game tonight? Word is the boys from Bracken acted very bad. Can someone share with us that attended the game? A St Pat parent called me and said it was rather disturbing and he should have not sat on the first row with his girl. I told him I have heard the saints language a time or two as well though. Suposedly a Bracken player was rude and disrespectful to Coach Hinson as well. Anyone see this? I just think the language has gone south with a lot of teams and it is starting to be accepted. Very sad!

I was at the game tonight, I saw a lot of emotion on the floor and after playing each other this many times I think that should have been expected. I think that Bracken came out of the locker room at half feeling good about there chances and when the Saints made the comeback emotions started running a little high. I did not see anything toward the coach but I wasnt watching for it either. I was not in the front row and I am sure you can here a lot of things sitting on the Saints side since you are very very close to the floor. However I do think language (both boys and girls teams), and taunting is getting out of hand. In the past couple of weeks I have witnessed a player giving fans the finger, overheard a young lady shout out a word that certainly is not appropriate at a ballgame.

I did make it to the game. I was too high in the stands to hear anything specific, just a lot of complaining on both sides. Seems like a foul was called on nearly every possession; 3 Saints starters fouled out and 2 Bears also; there had to be 50 fouls total.

 

This game was not a pretty sight. Lots of dribbling with heads down, wild drives and bull rushes to the basket, sloppy passing. Bracken County got out to a 38-21 advantage at the half, largely on the play of #55 and #54 down low; but also because the Saints couldn't hit a thing from the field or the line early in the game. Missed a bunch of chippies down low.

 

Saints cut the lead to 46-41 at the end of the third quarter. To their credit, they did pick up the defensive intensity; more ball pressure. I think Bracken County had something like 31 turnovers for the game.

 

Seemed to me that the difference late in the game was the play of St. Patrick's guards off the bench. Nice play especially from Strode and Yeary at crunch time!

First, I want to say congrats to the Saints, they did what they had to to win the game. Now I will say that the game was absolutely the worst officiated game I have seen all year. Bracken has lost more games than they have won this year but this was first time the officials determined the outcome. Very inconsistant calls all night. The second half started with 8 whistles against Bracken Co. in the first 1:30 that left 2 starters on the bench with 4 fouls. All but 2 were questionable if not completely wrong. Bracken Co.'s momentum was taken away. It is just a shame that inept officials are allowed to referee with no consequences. This is the second game (Nicholas Co.)that one of the refs have done a Bracken Co. game and he did an equally terrible job at that game. If you can't do the job , just quit. As for the Bracken Co. players, I never saw player say anything to a ref or any coach. All I saw was amazement on their faces over some the calls being made against them or the no calls. Instead of worrying about Bracken players the Saints fans should check their own players mouths.

To be honest, I couldn't hear anything specific (other than Breeze and Hinson) all game; I was sitting up with the reporter from the Ledger.

 

There was a lot of "who, me?" and "and 1?" stuff; but with as many fouls as were called, I'm not surprised.

I saw a lot of puzzled looks on the players faces after some calls, I saw players ask the officials for clarification, and again a lot of emotion. mcpapa I was real close to your area as well on the rail behind the seats. If polarcat was not able to hear anything being said by one team I wonder how he heard something being said by the other team?:confused:

I was also at the game and at least the better refs called the JV game....they didn't let it get out of control with fouls as in the varsity game. They even called the intentional foul. Granted there was still alot of fouls in the JV game also but the ref did a much better job for that game.
