Slow start for the Lions, but they picked it up in the 2d quarter. Ferg honored before the home fans before the game with the announcement of him joining an elite group in the 3,000 point club. What a big accomplishment for this young man from Isonville. Ferg I salute you and the whole county is proud of your accomplishment. Everyone was proud of him, but none glowed like the parents and grandparents and the look I saw on their faces. Then he proceeded to put up 30 points taking the ball to the rack with a vengenance and scoring over some tall timber at the rack. Also some beautiful spin moves and then his patent fall away jumper that tickles the twine. As Joe Dean would say a little string music in Sandy Hook KY. Twins were constant motion as always and causing chaos for the raiders all over the court. Don't bring the ball down because if you do they are like magicians swiping it away and heading the other direction before you know what hit you. Let the ride continue.

I attended the game. East was ready. Elliott was not. They may have peaked too early cause they are not playing well right now. They missed a lot of close shots but pulled it out. I also attended East's victory last night vs Rowan. Rowan came out and threw a Zone at East and left them unable to get in the groove. Elliott could have benefitted from the same strategy. Also Elliott better pull it together or this next week will not go well. Or have we all started to believe all the hype and just expect too much? I know they used to have a great trapping full court pressure that I haven't seen in a while. Wish them the best, hoping for improvement.

I can't speak for tonight or the BBC, but against SV, it was a lack of preparation, IMO. SV had opened in the same defense all season (2-2-1, 3/4 quart trapping press), but it didn't seem like Elliott was expecting and they found themselves down 16-3. They won the rest of the game ,but that is just too big of a deficit against a good team.

 

Does that surprise you? I wasn't at either games you mentioned but we all know where lack of preparation falls from. I have seen this happen many times but fortunately the talent carries itself thru the 16th region. As we all know it is a little more difficult for the talent alone to carry itself outside the region.

Seems EC coaching staff going to the bench more & earlier in the games since the All A state. I think I've notice subs in the 1st & 2nd Q's & not just wholesale subbing because of a big lead. Situational subbing like they should have been for the last three years. It seems the big Ison kid is finally getting the minutes he should have been getting since last year & not just mop up minutes. Seems they are finally trying to develop their bench. The only thing is I hope it isn't to late especially since losing the Nichol kid to season ending injury last week.

And it seems they just keep rolling along! Congratulations!

Yes, I was at the game last night, It appears to me that their trapping defense isn't what it used to be. Maybe they were just a step slow. It wasn't as effective as years past. Maybe everyone's adjusted and more used to it. But it just seemed that these very talented boys were a little off. Congratulations to Ferg on joining the 3000 point club. Somehow such a monumentous occassion warranted more than just a game ball. Perhaps some sort of trophy or even have the ball bronzed as he is among an elite group of only what 26 or 27 players? The twins continue to create a number of turnovers from the other team, and I want them to continue to improve and do well. This is my team. IMO they were a little off the last few games and I hope they make some adjustments. Ison done a tremendous job for the mintues he got. Chris still is good at creating havoc, I heard a number of comments questioning his decision making on some of his drives though. Timmy had a nice dunk and a few blocks and key rebounds, It's good to see him rebounding more than years past, but he really wasn't effective offensively last night. Good luck in the future, We'll be there rooting you on.

I am on the beach right now in Venice FL. I ran in to an Elliott Alum here already. Small world. I agree about the big Ison kid. According to my report on the game He came in second quarter and Elliott went on big run. 3rd quarter East close the gap to a tie, he came back in and Elliott went on another huge run. He didnt score any so it had to be his defense/rebounding or position changes in the lineup. Whatever the case keep up the good work Lion's. Go EC! From your long distance fan. If you read in the Ashland paper this morning, Coach Baker talked about East hitting a wall. I think that was in large part due to the trapping defense Elliott used. Their defense created several turnovers and wore East down, thats what I saw anyways.

I agree. Elliott seems to have lost the their edge somewhat. The first ten or twelve games it was just wham bam thank you mam crisp passing with everybody making the extra pass for the most part and the defense was just out of this world. Last night I thought they got it back in the second half and looked good for the remainder of the game. Hopefully they will stay on track and take care of business. They are a very good team when they play to their potential. Hope you guys go all the way:dancingpa
