January 31, 200917 yr Rocket my daughter told me that it looked like a war zone with electric/telephone poles ripped out of the ground or even split down the middle form the shear weight of the lines splitting the poles in half. As they say, one picture is worth a thousands words....Thanks and take care....
January 31, 200917 yr Those pictures are from Paducah but they easily could have been taken in Owensboro or any other part of WKY. I've seen trees bent in half with the tops touching the ground that look like the St. Louis arch.

January 31, 200917 yr So people might get the jest of the problem in WKy.... From the Murray State Web page.... Kentucky Emergency Management Systems Public Information Officer “Buddy” Rogers says statewide 88 counties have declared a state of emergency as well as 65 cities. 178 shelters have been opened with the majority in Western KY. Statewide about 6,400 people are taking advantage of shelters. As of 1 PM 437,000 Kentuckians are without power. At its height 58 water treatment plant systems were down and 200,000 people were without water. That number is now fluctuating and the state does not have an update at this time. Buddy Rogers says he has no doubt that the state will reach the thresh-hold to be declared a major federal disaster area. We are now under an emergency disaster declaration and continue to receive assistance from FEMA.
