I remember Cov Cath in there hay day when the students dressed up, painted themselves, made comments to the refs and opposing players and chanted things at opposing crowds and I have to say that I have seen Holy Cross in action this season vs Holmes and there cheering section was very similar to the old Cov Cath days. When I arrived to the game they were actually in the parking lot, painting themselves and dressing up it was great ha ha. And they chanted until the final buzzer so I have to say they have been my favorite bunch to watch this year when it comes to student sections.

That's awesome to hear as I know these kids put a lot of effort into it and I just hope it can continue after the Seniors and Juniors are gone because those two classes are what have brought this section up last year. It should be a great one to watch on Feb. 6.

Who does the best white/black out?

I have really been surprised at the St. Henry games I have been too. The past couple years the student support has gone down, but it is very good this year.

Yeah theres a lot of spirit around HC this year they go and cheer at almost every boys game with a good amount of them dressing up every game. The game at Covcath Feb 6. should be one of the best atmospheres in NKY this year. While Hc doesn't always have the numbers to compete with bigger schools, the front end is about as loud and crazy as anyones. :thumb: :ylsuper:

At last year's regular season game against Cov. Cath. in Latonia, the Holy Cross student section did a Moses parting the Red Sea cheer. It was great. Any chance of a repeat performance in Park Hills on February 6th?

Better show up and see I am sure we will see something good. :ylsuper:

It doesn't take many students to have a great student section.

Covington Catholic has around 500 boys. Holy Cross has 780 or so students. The #'s argument holds very little credence when it comes to student sections, unless you're talking about Ryle in '03 and their 1 year of "Raider Nation".

Well actually Holy Cross has right around 450 students, both boys and girls. Cov Cath has 500 BOYS which usually get out and cheer more and louder. Don't get me wrong there are some girls who can cheer very well, but it is more likely for boys to cheer over girls. IMO

Oops, my mistake. It is Holy Cross Regional High School that has 780 students, and that is somewhere in Canada I think. :D

I was shocked at how big HC was, and I guess now I know why. ;)

Really though, the enrollment doesn't really matter a whole lot when it comes to student sections. 100+ organized students is plenty.

Yes, I agree but if HC could get 100 students to come out even just one night I think it would be a blessing . I think what HCfan1 was referring to earlier is that they can make it happen with 15-25 fans. Now, obviously more students will be there at the Cov Cath game just because it's a bigger game and the history of it.

Thats what I meant. :ylsuper: I mean CCH has 500 boys to try to get to come out, HC has 200 or 225 boys and girls( no offense, but I mean come on they aren't loud) so in some instances it is a numbers game because the pool is smaller to choose from. :thumb: Hc has had about 20 guys at each typical game so far(not Holmes, any other "big" games) and hasn't really been out cheered. They get my vote for most spirited. It takes a lot of spirit to go out and be crazy with a smaller # of people.
