Tony Guidugli leads Kentucky Stars

Featured Replies

While I thought he had a great year, the regular season left me wondering if Tony G. was truely D1 material. His play in the post season, however, put those doubts to rest for me. He was excellent, especially in the second half of the championship game. I'm not sure he's Florida or Oklahoma material, but UC, Louisville, you bet.

I think what set TG apart in my mind was his ability to take charge. He had a great supporting cast in the regular season and was not the only weapon Highlands had. He showed great leadership in the Border Bowl and in only three days of practice established himself as a leader on that team. Not every kid has that ability to get others to follow him. Sure there may have been better passers, and may have been better runners, but for my money it sure looked like he was the total package.

All you had to do was watch his performance in the Bryan Station game leading his squad down the field for that game winning score. Or maybe saw how he took over in the state championship game. His strike to AC late in the 1st half and his unbelievable run for 50 yrds to paydirt were just beautiful.

Although West has solidified himself as a very special QB I think you have to play big in big games and also have the stats to solidify yourself as the best.

Tony might not have been the flashiest or most dominating but if you saw some of those scampers for 15 yrds where he just ran through Defensive backs and then had the pleasure of seeing him put a great touch on a 60 yrd bomb you would agree I think.

Not to mention the kid really stepped up as a mature leader. I know in the past couple years there were some questions about his attitude or character as an underclassman but he put those to rest.

Well said Q...Couldn't have said it better myself.

You've got to realize that Tony does not have all that much experience either. He has tremendous upside for a school willing to take a chance. He hasn't had that much game experience due to sitting last year/ mopping up, and HHS blowing away people this year and getting limited snaps. The tools are definitely there!

TonyG is the whole package as a collegiate QB.

Tony connects the long pass and can target the short/sticks route on the run. Excellent football IQ and a tough player who doesn't go down with one hit. IMO Tony does shine under pressure and the broken play. If you need the WIN, he's the guy.

He will produce well in any system.

Good Luck to him!:thumb:
