10th Region All A Classic Semi Final Game.

 

The Saint Patrick Lady Saints jumped out to a 23-4 first quarter lead and never looked back Friday night at Brossart High School.

 

Bracken Co made a run the entire game but was never able to take the lead.

 

The closest they came was 37-35 with 5:30 left to play.

St Pat closed the game on a 12-5 run and won 49-40.

When Bracken cut it to two, St. Patrick was definitley looking back.

 

In the 3rd and 4th quarter, St. Pat looked tired and exhausted.

 

Both teams gave the other teams tons of chances.

For Bracken to come back and win the game.

For St. Patrick to put the game away.

Neither could take advantage till St. Pat's last run.

 

Ahrens may have had double digits in blocked shots.

In the games I have scouted them, this seems to be a trend. Their first quarter is tough and they score a bunch. And then that intensity is not there the rest of the game. They looked tired in the 2nd half tonight and were not moving as quickly with as much intensity as they did in the first quarter.

 

It was interesting from a coach's perspective to know if you can weather the first quarter storm that is coming whether you have them where you want them.

I was so proud of Bracken tonight. I have known Coach Kelsch for a long time and have the most respect for him and his brother Robin. He never quit coaching and the girls never quit. After being down 19 after one period they could have rolled over, but didn't. That shows alot of class on the coach and players!

Great job by both teams. Neither team would give up. Great start for St. Pat and a great comeback by Bracken. All the girls deserve a lot of credit. I hope the finals are as exciting as this semi final. Great Job everyone.

Congrats to the Lady Saints. They seem to be making their case as the favorite in the 39th.
