Yes you were. It was a pretty ugly game (performance-wise) for both teams, and could be debatable about whether either team deserved to win.

 

Williamson came up big for GC in the 3rd quarter. Helped them build a lead they never gave up.

 

Thought Williamstown might be able to sneak their way back into it inside the final minute or so. A couple of questionable foul calls gave the Demons a chance to get back in it from the free throw line. But, they couldn't close the deal.

 

In the end, a game the Demons will try to forget about, heading into the All-A. And for Gallatin, a game that gives them a little confidence playing without Maddox. (Although he DID dress and go through warmups! Amazing!!)

Agreed. Don't know what the problem was for either team. Seemed like the game didn't start until 8:30 or so, and the players took a nap beforehand and never woke up! :confused:

What about that 8th grader getting his own rebound at the end of the game after missing both free throws? I may be a little bit partial,but ya gotta love it.

That was classic! One on four, and the one wins! But, in all honesty...whether it was planned or not, I don't know...it was probably a smart move by his part to go after it in the first place. Even if he fouls, that means Williamstown has to make their first free throw, deliberately miss the second, get the rebound and a put-back just to tie it.

 

If he let's them get the rebound uncontested, there's 2 or 3 players out there for Williamstown that could have knocked down a trey at the buzzer anyway.

 

So, I think it was a win-win situation to hustle after the ball. Kudos to him. :thumb:

He was there to make the free throws but after missing the 1st he told himself that if he missed the 2nd he was going staight for the rebound or steal. It just happened to work out for him.

This was a painful game to watch. Williamstown did not play to their talent level. Hopefully, this is a huge wake-up call going into the All-A.

Painful for the losing team , maybe.Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition for keeping the other team " below their talent level". Williamstown was defeated by a young , very "green" team. With Maddox out, Gallatin has only one player with any Varsity experience prior to this season. Any win is a good win for Gallatin at this point, especially on the road. I look for the All "A" to be very interesting to say the least.

True, but I don't know if that was necessarily the case here. Yes, Gallatin did force Williamstown into some turnovers with their trap/press late in the 3rd quarter...and got some easy points off it. However, there were a LOT of unforced turnovers and poor shot selection by the Demons before and afterwards, that I feel ultimately led to their demise.

 

Neither team looked like it was in-sync last night. For Gallatin, you can attribute it to the young, "green" players (and playing without Maddox). For Williamstown, though, I think it was more self-inflicted than anything the Wildcats did.
