I think what most people seem to forget is that the oil companies themselves are largely at the whim of OPEC. The majority of the countries in OPEC have nationalized the oil industry and with their blatant collusion as sovereign nations they have effective control of the price of oil. More often than not. Their attempts to raise the price and generate more profits ended up hurting them right here when the oil bubble finally burst and demand plummeted.

 

OPEC is to blame and its price fixing to avoid a fair market price. You can't really fight OPEC though short of eliminating their governments and turning the oil supplies over to the private sector.

We've seen a sharp decrease in gas prices, something that is unprescedent to what has happened in the past. I think that this is just a HUGE wake up call, that Obama really does stand for change and that Big Oil is scared(including OPEC), of how him being our new President may effect their pocket book both now and in the long hall. I believe that big oil realizes that they're no longer going to be treated as "pals" and this is in great part a reason for the dramatic decrease in prices. I feel as though they've realized that it's better that they regulate prices at a reasonable cost rather than have the US government step in, or even try to speed up the process as far as researching other fuel alternatives.

I just wanted to see if I could get anyone to bite. As was said previously, it's economic conditions throughout the world as well as demand are the reason for the current lower gas prices.

 

I'd thought of doing this thread a few days ago but forgot until today when I couldn't sleep.

 

All Tell it's funny, but you have to admit there are some out there that would take my original post completely serious, and as though it is the truth. Poor silly people of the world.

Any alternative fuel is years away.

 

Look for a big gas tax hike from Obama if prices remain low.

There's a lady where I work who is a huge Obamite. She's been talikg about taking the day off so she can watch the inauguration since the election. The sad thing is that she honestly believes that as soon as the coronation, err inaguration, is over that Obama will make the US an instant utopia.

 

And Obama has already said that he has no problem if Americans have to pay more for energy. Those of us in Kentucky that rely of electricity from coal burning plants may just get struck for huge increases if Obama get his way.

The deep misunderstanding of how our government works (or does not work) is not limited to plain, ordinary citizens. The ignorance afflicts his inner circle as well.

If you haven't seen the episode "About Last Night", from after the election, I would suggest checking it out at Southpark studios. Hilarious, they make fun of both sides, but did a great job of keying on how much people were excited for "change", it's one of my favorite episodes.

I used to hate it because of how they attacked certain groups or religions. I grew up a little, got off my high horse, and realized that they don't discriminate on who they make fun of, and then quickly became a pretty big fan as well.

They are fair about who they attack. I'm a republican christian. They'd have a field day over that... However, they won't just stop there... They go above and beyond in include everyone. Great humor.

Best I can remember they've went after Mohammed... But Comedy Central censored their depicition of him.

I believe that you are right - but if the show never aired, then they have not attacked all religions fairly. It does not really matter who censored the airing of the anti-radical Islam episode. Islamic fascists should be frequent objects of scorn and ridicule but our media lacks the courage to do the right thing.

I'm not sure Matt and Trey can actually help if they air it or not. As far as South Park goes though... They have attacked them. Comedy Central is the one who should be rediculed. Anyways, like I said before, "The Snuke" episode also targeted terrorists.
