Holmes 5th in the state?!?

Featured Replies

I don't think that if Elliott County wins the state tournament it should be a shock to anyone. Obviously Elliott County is now well know throughout the state and their strengths and weaknesses have been discussed and rediscussed and discussed again on BGP.
My point exactly. Based on its returning talent and performance to date, Elliot County has a much better shot of winning the state than anybody gave the '76 Edmonson County team - yet that Edmonson team did cut down the nets. Anybody who says that EC is not a legitimate contender for the state title just does not know what they are talking about.

I think it all has to do with the match ups. IMO Elliott Co matches up much better with Scott Co and J'town than they do Holmes or Bryan Station. Holmes length combined with their height and athleticism would really give EC problems. They also have a good big man in Pittman, and EC has struggled against teams who have a good big man down low. Bryan Station is in the same boat. Ashford, Morones, and Richardson all three are dead eye shooters from outside and can run all day with the Elliott boys. They are another athletic team that has size down low with Adams.

I guess we'll just have to wait until March though to find out if any of our "predictions/statements" hold true. I'd be willing to bet though that it will be one of those top 5 teams that cuts down the nets at Rupp.

Agree with this statement, another one to consider will be Franklin Co. They will face Holmes, Mason and Scott Co in Jan I believe.

If those teams are as good as advertised then we have only till the end of the month to have an idea when they will meet, with the Sweet16 draw coming then. EC is almost guarnteed a spot and Holmes is the big fav in the 9th.

30 Jan, I think
