Butler 74 Xavier 65

A-10 gives Xavier the illusion of being better than they really are. It's the 9th rated conference in the country, just slightly ahead of Conference USA, and have only one other team besides X in the Top 40.

As Sean Miller said this morning in the paper it was a terrible T that he took. How the first ref that he ran upto didn't get him is beyond me. I didn't see much of the game but I know he was frustrated with calls but there's a time and place for a T and that wasn't it.

The foul discrepancy wasn't as lopsided as you would expect based off of the comments heard but X can only look in the mirror (and the stat sheet) and see 12/22 from the FT line.

But the A-10 is way up this year...:ylsuper:;)

It's hard to go any further down.

Are you saying the A 10 stinks??? :p

The A-10 doesn't stink, and neither does Xavier. They are a top 20 team. I have said more than anyone on this board that A-10 teams (including X) can beat anyone and lose to anyone. The A-10 is not an elite conference but they certainly dont "stink." I

If you do think the A-10 stinks then there will be a lot of tournament teams with "Bad" losses on their resume to A-10 teams.

2 Elite Eights in 5 years for X. That kind of puts a damper on your logic, doesn't it?

You implied that X being anything but the best team in the A 10 is comical. That would imply the rest of the conference is inferior to X. Right? Would you like to examine the OOC Ls compared to the big wins???

You forgot to mention the Final Five...

It's a very average conference that does little to prepare their teams for a serious run in the NCAA tourney. Take a look at some of the schedules their teams play. Xavier is clearly the exception and stands out as being the best of this lot without question. But not being forced to play a day-in-and-day-out grinding conference schedule hurts them when it comes time to play the best of the best.

The bottom dwellers in the A-10 are bad, real bad. The top 3 or 4 teams in the A-10 over the last 5 years could have competed in some of the major conferences.

St. Bonny, Fordham and Duquense are horrible year in and year out. But Xavier and Temple could compete in the SEC, Pac 10 or Big Ten this year. X and St. Joes and GW could have competed in previous years.

Xavier has 2 Elite 8s in 5 years and St. Joes was a shot away from the Final Four. I don't buy your argument when the league has produced 3 Elite 8 teams in 5 years. That is really good when you look at how small the conference is and how bad some of the bottom teams are.

Temple has lost to Buffalo, Miami and Long Beach State. The W over UT was nice, but they aren't a very good team...

Since the 95-96 season when Xavier joined the A-10, that conference has had a total of 4 spots in the Elite Eight. 13 NCAA tourneys - a total of 128 possible Elite Eight slots - and the A-10 has managed to claim 4 spots (two of which were Xavier). Not impressive. And they (currently) have 14 teams in their conference, the second largest conference in the country.

Yep, occasionally Temple and UMass are good, Dayton has its moments, and so does St. Joes, but this is overall a very average (at best) conference.

The Xavier / Butler game is re-airing on ESPNU right now, for anyone interested.

Miami is a tough, you know that. They also played Kansas tough in Kansas.

The A-10 is average, where have I said otherwise? The top of the A-10 though can usually compete with bigger conference teams.
