This game was played this morning at Lexington Catholic's Holiday Tournament. The winner plays Lincoln County tomorrow for the Consolation Bracket Championship.

I can't find the score anywhere.

Thanks.

Newport Central Catholic 48 Huntington WV 43 - Janie Giesler, Michelle Stoll, and Courtney Sandfoss led the victors with 14, 10, and 10 points respectively. Mariah Tabor and Sandfoss pulled down 11 and 10 rebounds respectively. Huntington was led by 6-2 Whitney bays with 24 points and 6 rebounds. NCC trailed 34-29 entering the final period but outscored the Highlanders 19-9 in the final quarter. The Thoroughbreds accomplished this victory despite shooting 25.9% from the field and 10 of 22 from the free throw line. However they connected on eight three point baskets.

Great win for NCC

Am I correct that they will have rematch with Lincoln County?

That is what the bracket shows-Lincoln County vs. Newport Central Catholic at 9 A.M. December 23rd in Gym 2 (the old gym)

Nice win for NCC, they needed it. Glad to see Jane Giesler scoring 14. They need to get some scoring from her if their going to beat anyone good. Courtney getting 10 rebounds is amazing for a girl her size.

Since Lincoln County and Newport Central Catholic had already played each other and Southwestern and Owensboro Catholic had already played, they switched it around so that LC played OC and SW played NCC.

This was a great win for the Breds. They really came together and played great defense on a very good team. It was a real "boost" for the girls. The next day they played Southwestern who out-sized them big time. The Breds again pulled together and won another tuff game. Great job NCC!

The girls must be buying into Ron Dawn basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good game, keep working hard.

Good game, keep working hard.

They needed a couple of wins after being blown out the first 2 games of the tourney. The real test will be when they start playing the top teams in the 9th region. Hopefully they can match up with these teams.

They will play hard I know that, what Ron Dawn team doesn't.

Ron does get the best out the girls. Many have said they can see a difference in the team from last year. Defense is "turned up" big time. The girls really like and respect Coach Dawn and the staff.
