December 22, 200817 yr http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/ncb/rankings I am yet to figure out how West Virginia, LSU, Florida, and Wisconsin manage to get votes while Kentucky and UNLV get no votes. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that UK deserves to be ranked or anything, but they should get a couple of votes if these other teams do. Here's the top 10: 1. North Carolina (31) 11-0 775 2. Connecticut 10-0 737 3. Pittsburgh 12-0 715 4. Oklahoma 11-0 683 5. Duke 10-1 651 6. Wake Forest 10-0 552 7. Gonzaga 8-2 499 8. Texas 9-2 486 9. Georgetown 8-1 476 10. UCLA 8-2 465
December 22, 200817 yr Minnesota #23 WOOHOOOO :dancingpa RealTimeRPI is by no means perfect, but having the Cats ranked around the 50 mark makes sense right now. They beat Louisville or just get into conference and pile up the wins, that will naturally go up. West Virginia is likely going to be like Louisville, they will only get better as the year goes on. They have to, they looked like a Division 3 community college team against Kentucky.
December 22, 200817 yr Author They will probably construct a statue of Tubby to put on the Minnesota campus
December 22, 200817 yr They will probably construct a statue of Tubby to put on the Minnesota campus  It's been 8 years since they beat a Top 10 team and probably been 15 or so years since they were a real threat to do much of anything. So yep, statue order could be on the way soon.

Actually I love Tubby and am excited at what he's done with their program at Minnesota.
December 22, 200817 yr Author Unfortunately, Tubby probably already has a signed contract to coach at another school that he negotiated on the ride home from Arizona. :thumb: J/K - I like Tubby, as well and I think he is a solid coach.
December 22, 200817 yr When was the last meaningful game UK played? It is hard to move up in the rankings when you have not played a good team in over a month. Looks like the streak will continue with Tenn. State next on the slate.

Last time I checked, they are all meaningful :thumb: Last season, we were 7-9 and everyone complained about how bad the team was. This season, we are 8-3 and everyone complains about how bad the schedule is. Next season, we'll be 11-0 and everyone will complain that we're only scoring 60 PPG. Such is UK basketball

If you are dead set on this team being good at the end of the year, why do you need a number in front of the name right now? All teams play cupcakes, it just seems like UK has played more this season than other big programs. Thats fine if you want to get wins against bad teams, but dont expect to be getting national attention.

I don't expect a number in front of their name right now, but they deserve as many votes as the teams I listed are getting. I imagine they'll start getting a few votes if they go to 11-3 heading into the U of L game and will tap the top 25 with a win over the Cards.

Anyone that votes for LSU based on what they've done so far would have a tough time justifying it. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/clubhouse?teamId=99 How many of you can guess the names of the teams they've played by their abbreviations?
