December 17, 200817 yr A middle of the pack Big East team just lost to the best team in the SEC and Vandy beat arguably the worst team in the conference. Wait until the games in Cincy tomorrow when UC and Louisville run all over the two schools from Mississippi. This invitational is pointless as the matchups give no indication of the perspective conferences. The Marquette-Tennessee game was the only useful matchup. Marquette is ranked in the top 25 so they aren't exactly bottom feeders. Louisville lost to Western and UC lost two games to the two biggest names they've played. Their best win is against UNLV or UAB. I'm not saying the SEC is good so I'm not sure where your going there. I'm just pointing out that the Big East isn't as great as people were hyping them to be. Wins agains the two schools from Mississippi don't change that either.
December 17, 200817 yr Notre Dame over Texas in Maui, I would think. That replaces the one I mentioned earlier. So basically we're looking at a couple or a few good wins and a few nice wins but some bad and some very bad losses for the conference. That's not exactly what they were hyped to be just a couple of weeks ago.
December 17, 200817 yr No doubt the BE has shown some chinks in the armor over the last 10 days or so. Still by far the best conference this year, but not close to the "best ever" tag that has been thrown around... Agreed.
December 18, 200817 yr Nice showing for SEC against the supposed to be best conference in the nation.:thumb:
December 18, 200817 yr Nice showing for SEC against the supposed to be best conference in the nation.:thumb: We'll see how it all shakes out in March. Right now it's H2H, but teh Big E will put more teams in the Big tourney, and will go deeper.
December 18, 200817 yr We'll see how it all shakes out in March. Right now it's H2H, but teh Big E will put more teams in the Big tourney, and will go deeper. Of course they will, they have more teams than any other conference. They're good, but I think everyone overlooks the fact that they're playing with a 4-6 team advantage over the other major conferences.
December 18, 200817 yr The SEC is dominating the Big East this year!!!! Just having some fun with it. In general I am not excited about the matchups in this series. I wish it was set up more lik the ACC-Big 10 challenge.
December 18, 200817 yr Hopson had a rough go of things the other night. Thus far this season he has shown he can score and has made a lot of impressive plays, but he doesn't rebound at all hardly and his defense, while improved, isn't that good either. He will have an up and down season probably showing flashes of what he could be.
December 19, 200817 yr http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/JackBogaczyk/200812190106 Others are agreeing. The Big East just isn't that good. Of course they're deep, but deep doesn't equal good.
