Grayson should be good on the mound....I like the young guys Spalding and Pelham. Gonna be hard to replace Amlung....Sweeney will be key as well

How many D1 players?

Year in and year out that District is one of the toughest to come out of in the state. St.X will be tough this year and their pitching could be the key. They have a couple of Soph.'s that are up and coming and are pretty tough. Last year Male did not make the regional tournament for the first time in 14 years. They have 7 returning starters and will be a good hitting team. If the pitching staff comes around the sky is the limit. Manual on the other hand has a very talented pitching staff along with several key starters back. These teams know each other very well and I wouldn't be surprised if the regional champ comes from this district.

How many D1 players?

 

Including sophomores I would say around 5.

X should be strong this year overall. Maybe better offensively, little weaker on the mound as they don't have an Amlung like gasser throwing upper 80's. X won several one run low scoring games last year. In 09 they may have to outslug their opponents. Once again it will be a dogfight to get out of district with Manual returning almost everyone and Male returning most of their position players.

Is Amlung playing college ball? He was X's main pitcher from last year. X will have to rely on their batting this year to win games.

I had heard that he is playing at U of L and is listed on their roster. He is a very bright young man and I think is in their engineering program.

If Jefferson uses the sophs in the rotation I think this pitching staff might be better than most people think. Spaulding,Leohnert and Clooney are easily three of the best young players in the state of Kentucky.

If they all stay healthy they could be very tough.
