December 16, 200817 yr Our playoffs have started and in the first round we have a tie. Who gets the win? Team A has more bench points (in the tie game) Team B won the only regular season match up Team A was the highest point total for the year Team B is a two seed Team A is a three seed I was just wondering what everyone thinks, I haven't talked to the Commish yet and have not seen anything in our rules for this. Just curious
December 16, 200817 yr If you haven't agreed on some tiebreaker beforehand, this one is gonna suck big time for somebody... The three possiblities that come to my mind... 1. The higher seed gets to advance 2. Go to fractional points...if a guy has 17 yards, he gets 1.7 points instead of 1. Add 'em up and see who wins out. 3. The guy with the highest scoring player wins. Personally, in this situation, I think I'd want to go with fractional points to make it as fair as possible for everybody. That way the guy who actually got the most production from his starting lineup gets the W. If there's a tie after that...
December 16, 200817 yr I am in 3 different leagues and all three handle it differently. 1) Most points scored by QB. 2) Most bench points. 3) Fractional points. Personally, I like the Fractional Points as the best option, followed by Bench Points. The Highest QB is questionable IMO opinion, but I'm not the commish of that league. First off, bad mistake that your league didn't address this beforehand, but I'm sure you don't need to be told this. I think picking the higher seed is extremely unfair. Frankly, a coin flip would be a fairer option than that.
December 16, 200817 yr Author He may have a scenario in place but I just don't remeber it or find it on the web site. Our league is several years old.
December 16, 200817 yr Bench points then highest scoring team on the year. Can't say I'm too big on using the highest scoring team for the year to decide the outcome of one game. We use that as a tiebreaker to decide who makes the playoffs, but not sure why you would use points scored in the previous 14weeks to determine the outcome of week 15. Just my take . . . .
December 16, 200817 yr The first tiebreaker in our league in that scenario would be head-to-head during the regular season. In the event of a split, then we go to total points scored over the entire season. I would note however, that our scoring already utilizes fractional points so that would have already come into play before we could have a tie.....which we almost never do because of the fractional points.

Well if they aren't doing bench points and head to head is tied what other way can you use? Highest scoring player in silly.
December 16, 200817 yr Well if they aren't doing bench points and head to head is tied what other way can you use? Highest scoring player in silly. Well since they aren't using any system, they have their pick of a number of viable options previously identified. And picking the highest scoring team over the course of the entire year is as silly as any tiebreaker I've ever heard for a playoff tiebreaker. Been playing FFL since 1990 and can't say I've ever heard of that one, but to each his own . . . . Edited December 16, 200817 yr by cooperstown
December 17, 200817 yr I would hope the commish had something in the rules prior, if not he won't be liked by at least one owner. I have always used bench points, and honestly have never thought of a 2nd TB, I better address that one.
December 17, 200817 yr I would see if you can play each other this week and have the finals the next week if that's possible since you don't have a tiebreaker in place. I HATE bench pts. To me the person screwed up more most of the time so I don't think they should be awarded. I would say seed but honestly I finished #1 in our big money league regular season for the most pts but 1 guy beat me twice head too head (matchups) and he was the 1 seed. I blew him and pretty much everybody away in the end on final pts and I would be fired up if I lost to him in a tiebreaker that wasn't determined. I say most pts overall for the year if you can't extend it a week...... or you can do the manly thing and paper/rock/scissors best 2 out of three. (Coin flip if you're weak).

December 17, 200817 yr Our league uses the kickers points as our 1st tiebreaker in a game, then our defensive points. We use the kicker first because all kickers are pretty much even.If still tied after kicker and defense we go in order of QB , RB's , WR's ,and TE. Bench points IMO are not fair because what if you have some injured players.

The game will be replyed this week and the Super Bowl moved back a week. We now have bench points as a playoff tie breaker. By the way I am one of the teams, now do I start Lee Evans against Denver or Lance Moore against Detroit along with Reggie Wayne and Roddy White?

By the way I am one of the teams, now do I start Lee Evans against Denver or Lance Moore against Detroit along with Reggie Wayne and Roddy White? Lee Evans is a great WR with an absolute turd at QB. Moore is an average WR with a stud for a QB. However, New Orleans going against a pathetic defense in Detroit and, given that they themselves have a pathetic defense, this game will likely turn into a shootout. So I would see Moore as the better option this week. Of course, I am very anti-Evans (actually I'm just more anti-Buffalo QB) right now given that he has killed me over the last month. When the heck was the last time Buffalo had a decent QB????
