Who has the best freshman team in the 12th? I'm not sure about anyone else but Southwestern is yet to be beaten this year. from the start of their 6th grade year they are 65-5. and they are 4-0 this year.

Southwestern has a great group of freshmen. They were the best or second best team we played during my son's middle school career with Lexington Catholic being the other team that was great. Lincoln has a good team. Boyle has a good team. Wayne County was impressive when I saw them in the 7th grade 2 years ago. Mercer has a good group of freshmen if they all came out to play basketball. I'll see Mercer next Monday. Danville has exceptional guards, but no height. The Jessamine schools, Garrard, and Casey are average, but the only teams that have beaten us more than once in middle school were Lincoln and Southwestern and Mercer, but I feel we are better than Mercer. For now, I would say that Southwestern's freshman team is probably the best team in the 12th with Wayne County being 2nd, followed by Lincoln and then Boyle out of all the teams I have seen. I haven't seen McCreary Central's freshman and there are some other I haven't seen. Is there a tournament for the freshmen when the regular season is over?

Looking at Southwestern's schedule the only tournament I see is the district tournament, and the location is TBA.

I saw Danville's schedule and they have a district tournament and a region tournament on their schedule. On our schedule, there isn't a tournament on there at all, but that doesn't mean we don't play in one. It seems like we would be in Danville's district.

It has to be Southwestern. When they were in 8th grade I watched them play at the KBA Middle School state tournment and they were dominant.

I think we scored 17 points the whole game against them last year. They played a 3-2 zone and we couldn't get the ball inside to our big men and our guards were too small to shoot or see to pass the ball over the first line of defense. I saw them at a regional tournament at Mercer County. I think 4 of their starting 5 were on the all tournament team. I think they had 7 kids on the whole team. I would have liked to have seen them play against the team that Lexington Catholic assembled.

Southwestern played Danville tonight and won by like 25. The Warriors had the Ads down by 20 by halftime. The Warriors just got too relaxed and was just careless with the ball. They should have beat Danville by about 40 or more points. Now don't get me wrong Danville has a nice team. It was Southwestern just had a little more experience as far as playing together.

They beat Rockcastle County. Somerset's freshman are very short handed with DJ Townsend only playing varsity. He's been the focal part of their offense for the last 3 years. I think the SHS-SW score was 58-15 or 48-15.

I don't think you are giving them a fair assessment if you are just judging them by their record. This is a freshman team that has never really played together, and they are playing in a new system. Three of the kids who started on the 8th grade team last year are not with this team. This team will struggle this year to find points, but they are improving. I beleive Coach Daniel is looking at the big picture (player development) and is not focused on how many games they win in a developmental league. In HS there is only one record that matters.
