December 16, 200817 yr He addressed it before they asked...Fisher's take was that the kick was out of his range. The earlier 50+ yarder was with the wind....the 49 yarder would have been into the wind. I guess Fisher thought they had a better shot at getting 3 yards. He also said from watching Bironas in the pre-game that the kick was out of his range...I don't question the decision as much as I question the play call. Why try and hit a big one when you only need a couple of yards? I don't get the call at all. You miss on a slant because of good D and I can live with that, but the route they threw was considerably less likely to be completed.

The WR had a step on the DB and that play should have gone for 6. Considering their conservative offense, the Titans have always been surprisingly aggressive in their willingness to go for big plays on 3rd/4th and short plays...at least under Heimerdinger. I can recall many times when McNair was the QB that the Titans would line up for a 3rd and short, or a 4th and short and he'd air one out down the sideline. Personally, I like it. I have no problem with the play they called. Those are plays when the defense typically gives you the opportunity for a big play down the field. I think they do a good job of mixing it up...taking their shots in those opportunities sometimes, and others they go with the more traditional approach. I wish they'd have let Bironas kick...but I liked the play they called. It just didn't work.

Can't tell you the times I want to throw a brick thru the TV when he calls a 10yd route and we need 3 yds. Rush gets to Ben and it's over. I suppose we'll disagree with the play call. Can't say I'm not thankful though!

The Titans either call a play to get what they need for the first...or they go for a home run down the field. They don't mess around with something in the middle. That's like shooting an 18 foot jump shot. I'd much rather have Heimerdinger as my OC.

December 16, 200817 yr Now that we can agree on. I have never liked Arians either! I didn't like the hire, but that maybe because he was the Browns OC at one time...
