Slow start (again)for Dixie. Thought the margin here would be much greater!!! Bowman had a game high 21 points and was 11 for 11 from the foul line. Walter ended up with a double double. Otherwise, Dixie continues to struggle! They seem confused on the court. One play being called by the point guard, and immediately a different one being called by the coach keeps the team always wondering, "What the HECK" as they hesitate and change gears!!!! This then, at times causes conflict on the court between players, from the frustration of truly not knowing what they are to be executing!!!! When there is OBVIOUS disagreement among the coaches on what play needs to be executed....(what else can you say)!! Minimal shooting drills at practice may not be working too well for them either!! THIS IS AN AREA IN WHICH THE TEAM IS BEGGING FOR HELP!!!! And not getting it!! :confused:

So far, a very disappointing season for a team with enough talent and heart to get the job done!!!!

A disappointing 2-4 that includes two 30 point losses. This team returns 4 starters from a team that was very competitive last year. Shooting the ball is an obvious problem. A lot of shots that are rushed and have no touch.

Does Dixie have a new coach this year?

Solid win for Dixie

Ballhauler has hit the nail right on the head with this one. These girls have the talent, drive, and heart to be competitive this season but the ways of the new head coach are holding them back. Not enough shooting practice during the week, too much "talking" to others by the coach during practice and not enough TRUE coaching being done. These girls can give it their all but if they aren't being backed and coached by someone who is willing to pay attention to the girls then success will be tough.

This has nothing to do with my thinking I can coach. This is trying to understand why a team that should be very competitive this year is performing the way they are. And trying to understand why almost every player on the team is miserable. And trying to understand why girls who have played the game for ten years, now hate it. And trying to understand why the players ideas in regards to what might be helpful to their team, are ignored. These girls get to have this high school experience only once in their life. To know how this is affecting these players and wanting to understand what a possible solution could be is what I am concerned about!

They are working as hard as they are "allowed" to work. What can it be?? Please....anybody!?

Dixie has talent and athleticism, but hasn't learned that it's a team game. Perhaps they should go watch Conner play a few games and see what a difference team play makes.

From an "outside" perspective, it appears to me as though you have some players that are more concerned about their personal stats and large ego's than they are about the team. Dixie has talent and athleticism, but hasn't learned that it's a team game. Perhaps they should go watch Conner play a few games and see what a difference team play makes.

Thanks for an outside perspective. I agree that I do see this happening at times also. Definitely part of the problem. Is this something that a coach can instill in his players? Is this a lack of discipline in the team? How can this best be remedied?

A coach can only handle it through lack of PT if players don't do what they're asked. Its a tough problem for kids to overcome. Many times these kids have always been one of the very best on their young teams and , sometimes, their parents are in their ear as well.

 

A coach can't really change the kids.

No doubt, it's a down year at Dixie. The football team had high pre-season expectations with less than stellar results. The boys basketball team might not win 5 games. For an avid Dixie fan it's certainly disappointing. But, to get on here and read the whining and total negativity aimed specifically at the new girl's basketball coach is outright embarassing.

 

Back off the negativity. Support your team in the good times and the bad. You're not helping your daughter's hopes by telling her that her leaders don't know what they're doing. You're not helping to build her character by telling her to disrespect her coaches. And, you're not helping her focus on improving by giving her so many easy excuses.

 

I've watched this team play. They are not as talented as you make them out to be. The competition in Northern Kentucky is stiff. This team has enough weaknesses that they will have to continue to work very hard to get the results some of you parents seem to expect. They need your encouragement, not your sympathy and excuses.

Most people had zero expectations for Dixie football. I'd say they exceeded everyone's expectations with a strong finish.
