Paige is a Sr. She started varsity as an 8th grader, Frosh & JV as a 7th grader.

 

Griffin, Soph - has played HS basketball since her 6th grade year.

 

Kitchen could easily have played in her middle school years, but she attended another school.

 

CCHS freshman teams have not had their bet freshman on the floor in years. Thye have not had much success at the Frosh level as a result. But it does put girls in a development opportunity that may not have gotten it otherwise. The thing that baffles me is, if you are constantly playing 7th and 8th graders, then what is happening to these girls when they are Jr & Sr'? Wouldn't one think that if the were that good when they were younger, they would be even better when they get older? Thus, how do the younger girls keep getting playing time. Looks like an indication that the girls no longer develop under the tutelage of the Varsity coach????

 

 

As a former coach that saw CC play 10-15 games a year, those players that were not playing before the 7th and 8th graders were not as talented both athletically and basketball wise.

 

If you are the best bet for Coach Cravens to win, you are going to play. BOTTOM LINE. As it should be.

It is sad that some parents, all they have time for is to rip the coach, no matter which school is involved. They do this because each see their daughter as the next superstar.

I believe that most parents overrate their child's abilities. Many are good players, but lets face it, few, if any are going to get full rides to play basketball.

2 examples come to mind. 1st is the Wood girl, now young lady, who played at Pendleton County. Her best offer was Thomas More, which by the way is well coached and has enjoyed much success over the last 5 years. 2nd example, another young lady who is now at Thomas More after transferring in last season. I do not remember her name, but she went to NCC and was the area's top player her senior year in high school and is excelling at TMC. If these young ladies did not get full rides or stay at a D1 school,there may be 1 or 2 in the area that might rate D1 rides and thats it.

Parents, sit back, let the coaches coach, root them and their teamates on to victory and enjoy the season.
