Campbell County 78 Pendleton Co 56

Featured Replies

Lets hear it from the County fans. How did this one play out? I sort of expected this with CC and their veteran lineup.

Nerl (sp?) is easily CC's best player. He must've had 20 by half-time. CC seems to be a team that won't hurt themselves...pretty smart players out there. PC didn't play anyone over 6 or 6'1". CC was just too big. Not sure about the region, but anyone with some size will give PC trouble.

Campbell County 78, Pendleton County 56

Campbell County (1-0) - Jolly 8 0 16, Nerl 5 4 18, Geiman 1 0 2, Smith 5 0 11, Albrecht 9 3 21, B. Franzen 5 0 10. Totals: 33 7 78.

Pendleton (0-1) - Moeves 9 1 20, Cooper 2 2 6, Ferell 3 0 9, Greene 2 1 6, Jones 3 0 6, L. Florence 1 2 4, T. Florence 1 0 2, Walsh 0 1 1, Monroe 1 0 3. Totals: 22 7 56.

Campbell 19 23 21 15 -78

Pendleton 24 10 13 9 -56

3-pointers: C 5 (Nerl 4, Smith); P 7 (Moeves, Ferell 3, Greene, Jones, Crozier).

Congrats to 8th grader Mason Monroe of PC for earning his first official Varsity Points. He is going to be one of the top guards in the state in a couple years.

Campbell Co started slow but Nerl started raining threes and Albrecht took over under the basket.Junior Brady Jolly in his first varsity start showed the future looks bright with 16 points.Ben Franzen looking strong around the rim added 10. Jorden Smith also with his first varsity start at point guard hit a three and drove well to the basket to add 11. Geiman contributed 2 points.Nerl finished with 18 and Albrecht had 21.While the game went as expected C.C. showed all starters are a scoring threat and can score inside and out. Pendleton Co. is sorely lacking in height but certainly made up for it with heart. They sure can hit the threes and worked hard around the rim. Expect them to upset some decent teams this year. Pendleton Co. always turns out a good crowd. They sure support their team.

Agreed. Mason is going to be an excellent player. I also can't wait to see him playing for KY Elite in the spring.

Didn't realize he was an 8th grader. He looked good in the JV game. He has a very fundamentally sound form on his shot. He definitely will be a player to watch for in a couple of years.

Pendleton Co started out the game leading 9-0 but by the end of the half it was 36-22 Camels and they never looked back. Nerl for the Camels had 18 points in the first half including going 4 for 4 from the 3 pt line but did not take a shot in the second half that I can remember. Leading scorers for the Camels were Albrecht-21, Nerl-18 and Jolly-16 and Smith-11. Leading scorers for Pendleton Co were Moeves-21 and Ferrell-9.

CC was just to big for the Cats. I think this CC team is going to win a lot of games this season. They seem to play very well as a team and I think Coach Code has them ready to play. They can get scoring from a lot of positions. They just may be the #2 team in the 10th behind GRC. Good luck to the Camels.

The cats started out strong 24 points first quarter, but the CC size slowed them down. I think the young Cats did what was expected of them against the veteran Camels. Coach Simms will get them ready as season progresses. This team is small, but they are scrappy. Next test is Augusta, Friday and the Cats need to win this one because GRC is in town on Saturday.

With Mason losing to HHS, I believe that the Camels are in the mix for the region.

I would think very much so.:thumb:

No doubt the Camels have a starting five that can play with anyone. The question is whether their bench is deep enough to withstand a long, hard, foul prone game. One of the seniors will have to step and be the leader for this team.Is there one who has the personality to do this? Camels didn't seem to have one last year and it cost them in games where they blew leads in the final seconds. Somebody has to calm the team when things are going south. The coach can only do so much when it comes to a team mental state.Second year coaches usually struggle with this aspect of the game.

I think you will be surprised at the strength of the Camel bench. When given the chance and with some time they have some very good players in Wolf, Geiman, and Losey.

Is Losey playing? I heard he is hurt again.
