Bowling Green 63 Ohio Co. 6

Featured Replies

This was a very good win for BGHS despite the fact that Ohio Co was only 1-9 in the regular season. It showed that the Purples were not going to let the disapointing loss at the end of the regular season to Henderson Co was not going to be a detriment to them and it's business as usual! Owensboro's very tight win over Warren Central has to give BGHS some encouragement as well. The Purples will be ready for the Red Devils!

Sic 'em, Purple!!!:flame:

:D

I'll post the scoring as soon as I find out in the morning...Mrs PH and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary tonight and the guys and the staff couldn't have given us a better anniversary anniversary gift!:D

Congrats, if only you would have been married four weeks later, I bet a win in that situation would have been even sweeter.

Ughhh:sleep: The only thing that can come out of these types of games is the potential for injury. You would hate to see a true contender lose a key player in a playoff game that probably shoudn't have happened. Granted, injuries can happen anytime, but I would hate to lose my chances in a game that was merely a scrimmage.

Sorry I'm late with the scoring summary! Here it is.

It took only 1:29 for BGHS to strike first. Junior RB Lavance Anderson caught a 15 yd pass from senior QB J.P. Jackson for the TD. "Automatic Max" Oldham, senior K, booted the PAT, and the Purples led 7-0. At 8:02 left in the first qtr, Jackson threw another TD strike, this one 23 yards to junior WR Sam Howard. Oldham knocked home the PAT, and BGHS led 14-0. With 2:51 left in the first qtr, senior RB Tevin Barksdale scored on a one yd run. Oldham knocked home the PAT, and BGHS led 21-0. The time was wrong, but Tevin's younger brother Terrance, a junior DL, intercepted a pass and returned it seven yards for a TD! Oldham made the PAT, and at the end of the first qtr, the Purples led 28-0.

29 seconds into the second qtr, Tevin Barksdale set sail on a 39 yd run for a score. Oldham kicked the PAT, and BGHS led 35-0. With 8:42 left in the second qtr, Jackson scored on a one yd QB sneak. Oldham booted the PAT, and the Purples led 42-0. Ohio County finally dented the scoreboard when Brandy Moore scored on a nine yd run. However, the 2pt conversion attempt failed. With 2:33 left before halftime, BGHS led 42-6. The Purples answered with an 82 yd KO return by L. Anderson at 2:21 left before halftime. Oldham kicked the PAT, and BGHS went to the locker room with a 49-6 lead.

The Purples had the reserves in at the start of the second half. Senior RB Dillon Carver scored on a nine yd run with 8:53 left in the third qtr, finally starting the running clock. Oldham kicked his final PAT of the game, and BGHS led 56-6.

Sophomore QB Chandler Sears scored on a 13 yd run with 5:03 left in the game. Freshman K Luis Stoner booted his second PAT of the season, and that was that...BGHS 63, Ohio County 6.

The Purples (9-3) will host the Owensboro Red Devils (11-1) next week in the latest game of an old rivalry that started in 1932.

Good job Purples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beat the Red Devils!!!!!!!!!:flame::devil:

Senior RB Tevin Barksdale has scored, to date, 152 pts. His next TD will move him past Aaron Johnson (154 pts in 2001) on the all-time single season scoring list at BGHS! Only one Purple (Avery Hibbitt) has ever scored more pts in a season (he had either 206 or 208 his senior year a few years ago).
