November 6, 200817 yr Comments like this infuriate me. Revisionist history is so 20/20. My mother grew up in World War II Germany. Her father was forced to fight in Hitler's army. Her mother died trying to transport her and her 5 siblings out of the eastern portion of Germany. My uncles, being the eldest(11 & 12), were forced to dig a shallow hole in the frozen ground as deep as they could, then toss her body in it and leave. They were then seperated and shipped off to camps for children. Fortunately the war ended before my eldest uncle turned 16 or he too would have been forced to join Hitler's army. It took my grandfather 2 more years to bring them all back together. My mother was 7 when she watched her mother die. She was 13 when my grandfather finally found her and her sister. The first meal she was allowed to eat her fill, she ate until she threw up. She didn't know what it meant to feel full and for years ate everything that was given to her, which was never enough. So the next time you you want to have a "cursory knowledge" of the events in WW II Germany maybe you should actually learn it from someone who's been there and not just refer to the revisionist vomit that is taught in the high schools and colleges here. On a side note. She too, says Obama SOUNDS like Hitler. She never said he is Hitler, just that he sounds like Hitler. Well, you are way off. I was not implying that I had only a cursory knowledge, or that what Hitler did was okay, but to read the initial post and believe that is how Hitler came to power is just silly. Where is the Beer Hall Putsch Where is the bombing of the Reichstag Where is France forcing the US and everyone else to lay all of the blame of WWI at the feet of Germany instead of pushing for reconciliation. (Like we did with Japan after WWII) Where was the discussion of the least of the Germans, the gypsies, the special needs population, the poor, the homeless and what Hitler did to them. Where is the discussion of the treatment of anyone with pigment who was not a product of the motherland. Hitler's Holocaust was certainly about the Jewish people, but it was not all about the Jewish people and it was about economic crisis but it was not just about the economic crisis. Barack Obama in what appears to be his world view (based on what I have seen and heard) is just about the exact opposite of Hitler. Hitler was about us versus them, a purified Germany without all of the immigrants, pride in Country over community and family, getting rid of the poor who were a drag on the great country. He was a fascist. He was a divider he pitted groups of people against one another. He was about unquestioned loyalty to the government, if you did not agree with him you were an enemy. FTR this sounds much more like conservative values that liberal ones. Barack is all about the poor people. Have you guys not been on here complaining for two years how he wants to redistribute wealth to the poor. Socialism and Fascism are almost polar opposites, so how can he be both. His speeches, whether you believe them or not, have not been about country first, they have been about people first. He is not anti-immigrant, as a matter of fact he supports a route to citizenships. With his "associations" you cannot state that he believes in unquestioned loyalty to the government, you have questioned his loyalty yourself (the general/non-specific you). The only similarity that you could possibly hold is that of charisma. So then why not compare him to Reagan or Clinton or Kennedy. Why must you choose the most evil man of recent history (disregarding Stalin of course). Just for the record, I have a 15 - 20 page paper lying around that I did on the Hitler Youth while getting a degree in history at that Liberal Revisionist History Mitch McConnell institution, The University of Louisville. Doesn't mean that I have the experiences of your grandmother, but it also means that I have more than a cursory knowledge and I am fully aware that the OP is way off and overly simplistic.
November 6, 200817 yr Sorry, I'm not buying into the Hitler comparisons. Those grapes must be pretty doggone sour. And I must admit to being disappointed when I entered the thread. I thought for sure that Earl Pitts would be prominently featured. :irked: I was looking for a little Earl Pitts comic relief also. Dang...:irked:
