Speaking of hunting safely, I hung a treestand about 30 feet vertically. I now am the proud owner of a Hunter Safety System. Very nice and user friendly. Now, I hope I just don't have to see how it works!:scared:

Good luck to everyone.

I use to never wear a harness. When we had our first child it really made me think about those type of things. I never hunt with out one. We are also in the process of hanging life lines to our stands to tie off to when climbing up and down. I also want to add your nuts with that 30 foot stuff. I threw up in my mouth a little just reading it. Heights and I are not the best of friends. 20 feet is pretty much my limit and I would just assume not be that high.

Well, I used 7 4ft ladders to get to the stand. So the platform is around 26 or so ft. But that is on the "uphill" side of the tree.:D

I actually just got back from the gun range today to fine tune my weapons. Not very tickled with my 30.06. Very erratic with the ammo I was running through it. So, I decided I'd had enough and sighted in my 300WSM. It's 1/2" high at 200. My 30' perch will allow me to shoot over a cutover out to 300+. Can't wait to see one, Lord willing, to stretch my barrell.

So, that means that my shot will likely come right under my stand.:irked:

This year for the first time we started using lock on stands with climbing sticks. The sticks we were getting were 5 - 4ft sections. We put the stand in the middle of the last section. That would get the platform at about 18ft.

The HSS vests are nice but your marbles won't be thanking you if you fall. The way they route the leg straps will have you swallowing them back down with a fall. I saw a test on Youtube someone posted with several different harnesses. The HSS is one of the easiest to use but not man parts friendly.

With the rain coming down today and more expected tomorrow I would also add Frogg Toggs to the list.

It rained here yesterday and last night but clear and cool today. Same forecast for tomorrow. It will be a little windy but should be sunny and even colder.

Deer should be moving good tomorrow. Good luck:thumb:
