Russell 11 Raceland 8 (JV)

That's real funny guys. But that's the way it should be. A lot of people should read this thread to see that rival schools fans can enjoy the game and then joke about it afterward. Hats off to you guys.

I hope it stays this way for a long time. It makes it much more fun to post and have fun than to post and have anger.

Again, Congrats to Russell JV football.

I agree, But it only takes one or two bad posters to ruin a thread. I try to ignore such stuff. But when you've been a Ram as long as me and you've had 2 sons go thru the program it's hard to stay quite.

No disrespect to anyone's team but didn't someone on here say the other day that Raceland's JV team could beat Russell's varsity. They said that Raceland's varsity and JV teams were the two best teams in Greenup County.

That was a thread started as a dare (a joke) and was removed at the request of Raceland fans. I was the person who did it and it was a classless joke. I have apologized to all involved and this is behind us. Sometimes intensity and rivalries make sane people do insane things!

I wish Raceland would step up and play some more teams like Russell. I know some of the teams we play you could have fallen asleep. I would like to see them play LCA some northern Kentucky teams even if you have play on saturdays it is only going to help in the long run. Congrats to the coaches and players on this years jv team very good season.

Ever since I have been following Raceland (approx. 38-40 years) imo they have always played a very tough schedule, at least as tough as they could. There are some things like schedue conflicts, travel concerns, contract length as well as some schools just flat not wanting to play. I am sure there others reasons that I am not aware of that comes into play in scheduling. I do know that a lot of the teams that people are talking about as being to easy have been district games that have to be played.

This is imo a lot of the same thing that Russell has ran into for a lot of the years. For the most part Russell has had absolutely no competition in the district games that they were required to play with the exception of Mason in the last couple of years when they went back to AAA. For whatever reasons Russell moved out of AAA once and played in a terribly weak AA district. Russell is now back in AAA.

One thing that does strike me as funny is people now saying Raceland plays a weak schedule. Practically everyone Raceland plays other than their district games are a bigger school (and they win a large pct. of them at that;)).

For Raceland to be such a small Class A school I believe they play a very tough non district schedule year in and year out. Raceland is also always looking to improve on what is already a very tough schedule. Adding Russell in the last couple of years and extending that contract is one example.

This is a JV game thread though so I guess that I am as guilty as anyone for getting off topic. I do appologize for that, was just answering a post with my opinion on it. :thumb:

Congrats again to the Raceland JV on a Great seasaon and to Russell's JV on the win.

I was talking about the jv schedule. I dont understand why we cant play other teams than what we are. Keep the games such as Ashland,Russell and Greenup County also Fairview. Play Ironton, Portsmouth try and get a Lexington team or a team from northern Kentucky like I said this is for the jv only and even the freshmen.

Long distance travel is tuff. Many times when my sons were playing we didn't get home till 2:00AM. By the time the boys shower and we fed them after the game it was getting really late. I know your talking JV, but you can't fit those kind of games into the schedule. Week nights are out and Saturday after Friday is also not good.

To the best of my knowledge, I believe that JV games are traditionally set up against the team that we played the Friday prior. The problem with scheduling other teams to fill the open dates is that the other JV teams are playing against the teams in their area from the Varsity dates. This makes it difficult to establish games against different and more powerful teams.

I like your thinking, though. A tougher JV schedule would help prepare our boys for the Varsity level.
