Newport and Highland Heights are definitely not the same place. I just looked at Mapquest, and for some reason it lists the whole city of Highland Heights as part of Newport....It'll get you there though.

Nope. Mapquest is wrong. The guy whose lived in the neighborhood for 43 years is right.

I am not sure what the others thought, but I definitely enjoyed myself. Trace Adkins was awesome. I couldn't help but get cold chills and a tear when he sang Arlington, I just love that song.

 

Alan Jackson was very good too. Great performance. Crowd seemed to be really into it as well. Saw lots of older couples dancing on the floor and having a "good time" lol.

It was great....A little upset at the song selection of Trace Adkins though...How can you not play your most famous song?

We had a great time. Really good seats. We were on the floor in the main back row but it was center stage so we were very pleased. Both, Adkins and Jackson, put on great shows. AJ is obviously not as cocky/outgoing as Trace but he still put on a good show. It was very moving when Adkins sang 'Arlington'. That one, 'Remember When' and 'Where Were You' were probably mine and the majority of the crowd's favorite. Also, I liked it when Trace had that choir from ??? come out and help him sing his latest hit 'Muddy Water'.

 

One last note: The Ky Bank Arena was not nearly as large as I expected it to be. It was just as small, if not smaller than the East Ky Expo Center in Pikeville. I did like the architecture of the building though. All in all, we had a great time. Al though Jackson did keep mentioning Ohio, like we were in Ohio (I realize how close it is but still). Me and a few other guys kept on yelling, "You are in Kentucky!", lol.

We had the same problem with Carrie Underwood. She kept calling it "Cinci-tucky;" and I don't think the NKY crowd appreciated it much. Apparently, the promoters assume it's a largely Cincinnati crowd, even though the Bank of Kentucky Center is on the outskirts.

I was actually surprised at how many screaming fans there were when one of the performers asked if anyone was from Cincinnati. I mean like I said, I realize how close it is but still.

The East KY Expo Center is run by the same company as the BOKC; but is a little bit smaller. The Expo Center seats 7,000, while the BOKC seats 9,600. The BOKC has slightly more meeting space as well.

I'll I can say is that there were a couple of good looking chicks from the nati sittin behind us last night, that kept asking us what we were doing...By the end of the night, they wanted us to go out to the bars with them.....I guess it's alright to be itty bitty, but they need to do a better job with security....

We had really bad seats but ended up sitting in the 2nd row, because of the ushers being really nice.....The people we sat behind were the admissions directors at NKU, and they invited us to go sit with President Votruba at the game tonight...we didn't go, but these people were awesome....I love the atmosphere at the new stadium!!

If you aren't from the area you may not know this, but almost all the pictures that Alan Jackson showed on the slideshow were from Kentucky...mostly around Highland Heights and Newport.

I am not from the area but yes, I knew that. Almost every concert I have attended, the Artists have a slide show of pictures that include pictures from the "famous" places in that area.
