Why??? How good is Owsley supposed to be this year???

They'll be better than expected. Peyton Wright is the most underated player in the region. They are in a tough district this year but Coach Green still has some magic left.

In my opinion, they are better than 4-5 teams listed in the top ten...but that's just my opinion.

Powell is under-rated. They should be top 5. Maybe top 3. Estill is also a top ten team.

Owsley County should have a pretty good team this season, but it will be a mixture of youth with returning players. They have junior Micah Turner back, along with senior Candi Combs, senior Teri Gilbert (her twin sister, another returning starter, is out for at least the first half of the season with an injury) ,and junior Danielle Marshall. But the Lady Owls also have some good freshman, led by 5'9 Peyton Wright, whose potential is unlimited IMHO. And Paul Green is back as coach. His teams won two districts in seven years at Owsley County before he stepped down to take an administration job in Lee County. He also coached the 2005 Owls boy's team to the district championship after taken over the team, along with former Owls coach Charlie Turner, in the second half of the season.

 

I think the Lady Owls will be competitive this year, and may be just a little under the radar. But that's OK. There's less pressure that way.

Look for the owls to have a pretty good season. I think Gilbert will have a breakout season, this being her last year. Its a shame about her sister though she could of helped the team alot.

Dannel Marshall is a senior and will help the team alot. Look for Sheri to be playing. They have put off the surgery on her knee and ordered her a special brace, the same type of brace that Sarah Elliott wore throughout her career at UK and played extremely well with, so don' t cut Sheri out yet. I agree professor that the Lady Owls are a little under the radar and it is great, maybe no one will be expecting them....

 

I am not going to hurt anyone's feelings and say who is over rated (the players of the teams read this), but I also agree with the post that Powell is underrated. I think they have a good solid team to begin the season this year.
