What do both of those teams lose to graduation? How good were their JV and frosh teams?

We'll see them both against Harlan County the next two years.

When you are 1-8 all the calls seem to go against you.

Watch the film moutain thunder the kid was blocked into the punter and if you know the rules which I am sure you do, you would know that is not a penalty!

 

I have officiated for several years so yes I know the rules pretty well. He was not blocked into the punter. There was no blocker near the player who ran into the kicker. Unless NL had an invisible blocker I couldn't see, there should have been a flag. I will say that the player appeared to have no malice and was trying to pull up, but in the wet conditions, couldn't stop his momentum.

 

I will say that the many of the illegal procedure penalities were absolutely legit. The left tackle for NL jumped just before the snap 2 or 3 plays in a row and was pulled to the sidelines.

 

The block in the back right against NL that many have complained about which happened right in front of the NL bench was the right call. It was very obvious and the officials made the right call.

 

However, with that being said, the fumble near midfield really cost NL dearly. They had their chances and while the officiating was lopsided towards the home team, after watching the video, I can say that NL had their chances to get the win and didn't capitalize and that was not on the officials. I don't think the refs cost them the game.

North Laurel brings back most of their talent next year and should be much improved given the experience their younger kids have gotten this year. The Sulfridge kid really stepped up on defense the 2nd half of the season. Wardrup, Fugate, Shears, Wagers, etc will all be back and they should continue their improvement. Not sure about Perry Central.
