Thank you for the kind words and that's what I will do, is ironic that you mentioned the Valvano quote. That is one of my favorite quotes of all time. I say that to myself many times. Like I said, I have couple of very good friends that I have hunted and fished with for years and years. One of them being bgp's cvillecat, we have been hunting and fishing together and with since our youth and another one has been a friend and fishing/hunting partner for well over 30 years;). These guys know my limitations and are more than willing to help, they go above and beyond the call.

Trust me, when the few times come that I can go out now I will promise you that although the point is to take game to bring back for the table that is only a bonus.

Getting out in Gods great outdoors whether in be on the lake, river or in the woods with lifelong is what the blessing is for me.

If you have a few good friends in your life you are a wealthy man indeed! Good luck, but be careful.:thumb:

I got a phone call from my Mom when I got to work this afternoon. Her and my Dad went this morning. It was my mom's first time turkey hunting. She ended up killing one and dad got one. She said that a flock came into where they were at and didn't slow down when the shooting started. They only took one gun with them, so they alternated shots. Anyways, mom is thrilled to death, as I am for her.

Congrats to your mom on her first turkey kill. Congrats to your dad also.:thumb: I think it is great when a family hunts together.

My wife & I have hunted together for many years and always have a great time enjoying God's great outdoors together.

Well cville, I did make out in the woods but with no luck. It was still great to be out there though.

:thumb: That is great news!!!!!! Sorry you didn't score but you know that enjoying the experience is whats matters most. I didn't connect either but also had a great time. Fall turkey hunting is a great way to scout for the upcoming deer gun season or locate a new area for your next bow hunt.

I would suggest you give Spring Turkey hunting a shot this coming Spring. I guarantee you will be hooked for life. I have some great places to hunt turkey(public & private) and will be more than glad to share them with you if you are interested. I also have several extra box & slate calls if you need any. Just give me a yell:thumb:

Thanks, I may do that. I was down at Twin Knobs camping by myself a couple of weeks ago, the week before muzzleloading season. I was just taking it easy one morning lazing in the tent. I thought, man those squirrels are noisy this morning. I looked out the screen and a flock of about 10 birds fed right thru my campsite. That was close up.

:thumb: Things like you described are why I enjoy the hunting & outdoor lifestyle.

I can tell by your enthusiasm that you are already bit by the turkey bug.:thumb:
