KHSAA Ruling Question

Featured Replies

The KHSAA fines LCA for participating in giving out illegal scholarships.

I do not understand how then the KHSAA allows all that recieved illegal scholarships to transfer back to their home school penality free. On the other hand Shotwell from LCA (did not recieve illegal funds) transfered back to his home school for numerous legit reasons but he was ruled ineligible.

So in a way the KHSAA is promoting taking illegal monies, if Shotwell would have accepted illegal monies he would be eligible this year....? Sounds like the KHSAA needs a little lesson in character education!

I hadn't really heard much about him. What is the situation and what grade is he in?

Sadly, it appears not many at Scott County have heard of him either. Probably why the support for him wasn't as strong as it was with Euton and Jackson.

But, from those that don't know, he played in the Scott County system through middle school, then transferred to LCA last year without moving. He decided to come back to Scott County in March, but will be sitting on the sidelines this year.

This is unfortunate, Shotwell is a tremendous young athlete and even better, a great kid. What are the chances of him being able to at least participate at the JV level for a season?

Ive seen him play in AAU and have been really impressed by him. I just didn't know exactly what his situation was.

I assume if you are ineligible, you can't play at any level. But, I do know the rule says you are ineligible for one year, so since he transferred back to Scott County at the beginning of March, he could be eligible come region time. But, I would think it would be really hard to incorporate him at that time in any meaningful playing time.

Shotwell is a very good player, and is improving.

Guess he wasn't a "high profile" name, so the KHSAA didn't make him eligible. If his name was Euton or Jackson, he'd be eligible no matter what.

Too bad for the kid. Doesn't seem fair considering they let Euton and Jackson play.

If he's as good as advertised, I'm sure 'ol Billy is figuring out a way to "incorporate" him until he's eligible.

I don't see the big problem. He was at LCA without moving to Lexington, and was either a frosh or soph. Now he goes back to his hometown, and has to sit out a year those rules are very clear. Now Jackson and Euton moved residence( 2 hours away if I may add) so your comparing apples and artichokes. I am a big Scott County fan and would love to see the kid playing, but he knew the chances of being eligible we he decided to come back.
