Toughest Region this year?

Featured Replies

Who is the toughest region this year. Honestly I believe its pretty much a 2 horse race between the 11th region and the 7th region. Just looking at what I think the top 5 teams in each region will be:

7th region:

J'town

Manual

Ballard

Male

Eastern

11th region:

Scott Co

Dunbar

LexCath

Franklin Co.

Tates Creek

Thats pretty close to call IMO. Going in I migh say just looking at the top 5 the 7th region looks a little deeper, but I look for LexCath and Tates Creek to be really strong by the end of the year. That being said I look for Eastern to surprise some people too. Thats kindof what I think, what does everyone else think?

Is Dunbar going to be that good this year? What about Madison Central? Both are very tuff regions to advance from.

I would have to say its still the 11th.

(1) Scott County - Loaded

(2) Franklin County - Returns everyone

(3) LexCath - They don't rebuild, they reload

(4) Dunbar - Final 4 of region last year, Hudson returns

(5) Tates Creek - Great young players return

(6) Bryan Station - Very athletic team

(7) LCA - A couple of very good young players. Played very well during the summer

(8) Henry Clay - Very talented freshmen team last season

(9) Madison Central - Some quick athetes, along with Keyshawn Simpson in the paint

(10) Lafayette - Some nice young players return

(11) Woodford County - Return a lot of experienced players

(12) Western Hills Some athletic guards, along with Mike Satterwhite(top 10 rebounder in state last season)

I think at any given time throughout the season there will be 5-7 in the top 25, and 3-4 in the top 10. Brutal year in and year out!

JTown, Male, Eastern, Ballard, and Manual will all start top 20. Seneca is loaded and Trinity both will vie for the top 20 too. No question the 11th was better last year, but not this year.

I'm still trying to figure out how Doss beat Franklin County this summer at Jtown.

11th Region is like a State Tourny every year.

And this year winning the 7th region will be tougher than winning a state tourney. You might have to beat 3 top 10 teams in 3 days just to get to Rupp. The LIT is tougher than the state tourney too. How many teams last season defeated 3 top 15 teams back-to-back-to-back in 3 days?

By the way, I really the like PSU logo. Joe Pa is a living legend and will go down as one of the greatest coaches in the history of sports.

That would probably depend on who was actually playing in the game for each team. FC was not at full strength the entire summer as several key players are involved with other sports. The other thing with summer ball is that coaches don't always play to win as they are experimenting with different players and trying to put kids in different kinds of situations.

These threads make for fun discussion, but preseason polls really are just opinions and don't mean much.

I'm not making a case for one region over the other here, I expect both will be very good as always. The kids will get their opportunities to make their cases on the court.

Because Franklin County called off the dogs. FC was playing back-to-back games and lead by double-digits most of the way. Franklin County played much of the second half with subs. As we have heard so often, it was summer ball....right?

It was definately summer ball. It was a fun game to watch from start to finish. Nevertheless, FC had a good season last year and should be improved this year.

I couldn't remember his name on my first post, but Cameron Clemens made a great pass to a teammate on the baseline as time expired, and the guy hit a short jumper to win the game. He is a really good player, who I have known from AAU for many years, but we don't hear a lot about on the high school scene.

I guess my point was since Doss had lost several games by 30+, I could not understand how FC lost to them. It doesn't matter at this point. FC should build on last year's success.

Do you know what tourneys FC will play in?

Again, it's summer ball. I also think FC beat GRC this summer by 25 or so ( may have been at JTOWN). Does that mean they should be ranked up there with GRC? I have no idea....both teams in the summer game were missing key players.

What I do know is that FC will play GRC this season and the kids will have an opportunity to prove themselves.

Mr. Elite, you probably know more about this whole 7th 11th thing than I do. I do expect FC to be competitive as they will have there best team in several years, but me talking about what they could or should do this season doesn't mean jack. They need to prove themselves on the court.

I believe they are the 2nd best team in the 11th region. Dunbar is very athletic and returns a lot of experience. I heard they got a guard from Henry Clay in that is supposed to be pretty good, but I don't know his name. They return a lot of experience from last year where they had a nice team then.

Simpson will be a big for Madison Central, but I don't see them being a top 5 team in the region IMO.

They are invited and playing in a holiday tournament in Binghampton, NY. The are also playing Mason County at the Kentucky Bank Shootout at Bourbon County on 12/20. Otherwise their schedule is loaded....

@ Shelby County, @ Holmes, @ Dixie Heights, @ Montgomery County, @ Madison Central, @ Bullitt East, GRC, Scott County, Tates Creek, Anderson County, Lafayette, as well as district foes Western Hills, Woodford County and Frankfort. BTW, Dunbar would not schedule Franklin County this year. I believe Dunbar will be good, but lost more from their team than people realize.

Doomer, that's one of the state's toughest schedules. Here's hoping FC shines in New York.
