1983 Conner - State Championship.

I would appreciate it very much. :thumb:

No, but here is this...

The KHSAA, which every year at the state finals, recognizes the major anniversaries of state championship teams, is looking for members of Conner's 1983 Class AAA state championship team.

All coaches, players, and cheerleaders from that team will be honored on Dec. 12, at halftime of the Class 3A game at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville. The Class 3A game will kickoff at 3 p.m. Each member of the team will receive one complimentary ticket and one complimentary guest ticket.

To reserve a spot, contact the KHSAA's Brent Miller, by phone at (859) 299-5472 or email: [email protected] by Dec. 5.

Didn't Melvin Miles play at Neport

As others have noted, he was on that Conner team. I remember them well as Danville played them twice that year. (I was doing the broadcast for Danville that year) They pretty much handled the Ads in the regular season but it was a somewhat tougher game in the playoffs. That game seemed to set the tone for the Ads the next year when Danville won AAA with a squad that was a year older and wiser.

From my understanding, Miles did play for the Newport Firefighters when he was younger. I think his dad played for Newport in the mid 1960's.
