I could actually have one in this country to my knowledge. I don't recall being a Muslim as an eliminating factor in Presidential eligibility. Are you saying you would vote against a President simply because they are a Muslim? If so, what's wrong with having a Muslim president?

 

Furthermore, what if I was a Muslim? Would it be wrong to want a President of my faith? It seems ok for Christians.

While, unfortunately, it may be true that a Muslim American would have a difficult time reaching the presidency (to say the least) because of the bias and ignorance of many individuals in this country, our country is founded on the idea that religion shouldnt play a role in this type of decision. But our government is also founded on the idea that individuals are able to have their own viewpoints and opinions, regardless of their basis. Its unfortunate that certain citizens of this country have to undergo assumptions and utter discrimination because of the radical actions of a few psuedo-representatives of their religion/culture, but time will heal those wounds and our bias, as a culture, should subside.

Hypothetically…Would you vote for a person that worshipped roaches as his savior and sacrificed dogs & cats to him…Even if he had a great economic or national security plan? Or would that whole roach and dog/cat thing make you a little nervous? If it makes you nervous you just might be discriminating. Would you let him babysit your kids or would you “discriminate” based on the group he worships and associates with?

Yes we should try to minimize it...Human nature will not allow us to mimimize much though. Maybe we shouldn't "embrace" it, but disriminating in the closet is no different than doing it "openly". I just have a problem with people acting as if they do not, or would not disriminate when it can affect their family values.
