Pulaski County 13 Rockcastle 0 (JV)

Featured Replies

Pulaski beat Rock at their own game of smash mouth football.

I think they scored on one pass and one long busted run. All plays over 25 yards. From what I heard PC did not want there QB to get hit anymore he was taken out twice after hits so they let a VERY strong defense win the game, so they just punted the ball away the entire seconde half. Number 50 looked great for PC;)

Does Rockcastle have a bunch of underclassmen that play a lot on varsity and don't dress for JV? They really seem to struggle moving the ball. I know they've been shutout at least twice already, Somerset beat them 32-0 in week one. Nice win for the Maroons in posting the shutout.

The Pulaski QB did come out a couple of times, but went right back in the game.

I think last nights Rock team may have been a little different version of the team they had early on in the year. South Laurel beat them 12-6 and Pulaski hammered South Laurel 56-0. I don't believe South would have beaten the team Pulaski played last night.

It's so hard to tell from week to week. They had several dressed out the night that Somerset played them. Trying to compare scores in JV is even harder than in varsity. For instance last night Somerset, minus 3 normal 2 way starters beat Corbin at Corbin who beat Pulaski handily but Pulaski beat South Laurel easily who played Rock to the wire but Rock was shut out by both Somerset and PC who.......awww man I think I just blew a gasket!:lol::lol:

It depends on what is going on with the varsity that week-for instance when pulaski played Corbin they held out 3 starters including the QB because they were needed on the varsity that Friday because of the injuries to Muse and Barnett.

That's what Somerset did last night agaist Corbin too. With the uncertainty about Michael Phelp's knee we didn't take OT/DT Clayton Stringer, TE/DE Corey Jones. Also FB/LB Trey Slaughter was held out with injury and Sophmores Derrick Jackson and JP Henderlight haven't played JV all year with their roles on the varsity.

Good win for the young Maroons!!

The Somerset and Corbin game went right down to the wire with Somerset winning 46-40 in overtime.

Some freshmen for Rockcastle do play varsity football and thus see very limited time on the JV schedule with limited play if they are allowed to attend. A very good freshman running back (who did play in the varsity game against the Maroons and ran up over 70 yards in the varsity game) was not allowed to play. A freshman lineman was allowed limited action in the game as he had already practiced with the varsity that day for more than two hours. These two see no action when Rock plays freshman games. (or haven't to date) The entire JV team had practiced for about an hour and half before the game. This JV team is getting stronger as the season rolls on and they have no time to practice together during regular team practices. The coaches for this team usually puts them together just before the game and have done a very good job of getting most out of them.

The quarterback for the Maroons (#18) was very impressive and can be commended for playing very well during this game.

Actually, PC punted once in the game and that was in the Second half, Rock punted many times, including a quick kick in the 1st half. I think found it ironic that PC, a predominently Spread offensive team relied on the a 3 back set late to control the clock and Rock a power running team was trying to spread out a throw it.

By the way, the one pass that was caught for a TD was thrown from Rock's 25, so I guess it had to be a play of 25 yards, seeing how he caught it 5 yards deep in the endzone and the ref won't him run it out the back .

Sorry, did not know the about punts, and impressive math skills on the figuring the pass play. So I guess Rock stopped them on fourth down conversions PC did not score the second half, they got more yards on interception returns than running the ball. Still do not understand why 18 played, backup QB that has already started 2 games, JV ball is serious at PC great fan support over 75 fans for them at the Rock.

Were you at the game? The aforementioned TD pass came in the 3rd qtr. 18 is a sophomore and we would like him to get reps. PC fans love their players and they will show up for them. PC moved the ball as well as Rock did in the second half. rock didn't get the ball past PC's 40 all night. The rockets didn't even sniff the Endzone. PC was the dominent team on the field tonight and they beat Rock at their own game. Go PC!!!:ylsuper:

He did not start two games (only one) he came in in the Rock game when Muse went down. He is a sophomore who neede reps and with Muse playing for the next two years his reps at QB will come his senior year.:p
