This is a big time mismatch. Have they had a program there (Jackson Co) very long?

Scenters does appear to be a class act. I can't imagine him running up the score on an opponent. The JVs got a lot of action last Friday night and had some success. It wouldn't surprise me if the same thing happened this week.

 

He has been ready to be a head coach for quite some time. I was very impressed with him as an assistant at Madison Central after of all things, a loss. The Indians were upset by a team that seemed to have no shot to beat them. Several wanted to find blame somewhere, .. officials, etc. Scenters' response was 'They just wanted it more than we did and whipped us, plain and simple'. No excuses, just gave the other team the credit they deserved.

 

If Garrard can keep him around, they will be VERY pleased with what he does with that program. I have no doubt! :thumb:

This is the third year of Jackson County's program. They began play in 2006 as an independent, picking up wins against Hancock County (Tennessee) and Evangel Christian.

 

Last year they entered district play for the first time. They won three non-district games, beating Powell County, Betsy Layne and South Floyd. They lost all five district games, however, by a combined score of 292-8.

 

This year the Generals have began the season with a loss to Powell County and another win over Betsy Layne. Tonight will be the first district game and they are planning to play their first ever home game in two weeks against Casey County. They also have a middle school team for the first time (I believe) this season. The middlers lost to Garrard earlier in the season.

 

Jackson County had plenty of size in the high school program last year and were big on the middle school team this year. The problem they have is that they don't have many kids that have played much football. Realistically, they shouldn't have played in district last year or this year. But sometimes learning on the job is a good thing and that's the route the school chose. It will take a while to build a program in McKee, but with the right person in charge there is no reason to think they can't be pretty good.

Thanks, that is why I asked. I thought that they had a young program, I guess I recall it from the Garrard game with them last season.

 

I think GC will have a very good season this year.
